LoanWatch (outbound) 2024-25

Mikey Faulkner played 66 minutes of Heybridge Swifts’ 1-0 defeat at home to Bury Town. Jack Stone was an unused sub.

Faulkner however scored Heybridge’s fourth in their midweek 5-2 win at Wroxham. Jack Stone came on for the last six minutes during which both sides scored.

Beau MacDonald came on as a 73rd minute sub for Concord with them 2-1 up at Sporting Bengal however they conceded a 95th minute equaliser in a match which saw the linesman injured and the opposition’s coach run the line.

Mikey Faulkner was in the starting line-up for Heybridge Swifts yesterday as they drew 3-3 at Redbridge in the Isthmian League North Division. Faulkner was substituted just before the hour mark with Swifts trailing 2-1; they came back to lead 3-2 but conceded in the last minute to share the points against the Motormen. Jack Stone was not in the squad.

There was no match for Beau MacDonald's Concord Rangers this weekend; they host Billericay Town as the BBC Essex Senior Cup Third Round kicks off tomorrow evening at Thames Road.

Joe Poxon has appeared a couple more times as a substitute for Great Wakering Rovers in the Essex Senior League. He was introduced in the 85th minute of a 3-1 defeat at Woodford Town on 5th October and then in the 87th minute as Rovers triumphed 3-2 against Hullbridge Sports. Poxon wasn't involved yesterday as Wakering edged out Frenford, 1-0, at Burroughs Park.

In the Eastern Counties League Division One South, Obi Okafor has now featured 13 times for Barkingside. On Monday evening he helped 'Side upset the form book with a 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Cannons Wood, despite being reduced to ten men on the hour mark. Two days earlier he had been a half-time substitute in a 3-0 reverse a Hoddesdon Town. He also started the 3-1 defeat at St Margaretsbury, whilst at the beginning of October he scored the consolation after appearing as a 56th minute substitute in another 3-1 loss, this time at Coggeshall Town. Barkingside are also at home tomorrow evening, against Harlow Town.

No Beau MacDonald in the line-up for Concord Rangers in the BBC Essex Senior Cup this evening (which presumably is to avoid him being cup-tied for our own Third Round clash at Hashtag United on 5th November), but there was a senior debut for 16-year-old Kye Munro, who is dual-registered between the Beachboys and our U18s.

Munro was introduced as a 75th minute substitute but wasn’t able to help Concord overturn a 2-0 deficit in their tie against Billericay Town. Another 16-year-old sub for the Beachboys, Ruben Philip, was with the Blues Academy and made two appearances as a 14-year-old in our U18s during our final EFL Youth Alliance campaign in 2022/23.

Only three players in match day squads this weekend:

Beau MacDonald made his debut for Cambridge City today in their Isthmian North game against Bury Town. Beau played the full 90 minutes as Cambridge lost 4-2 at home.

Mikey Faulkner was an unused sub for Heybridge Swifts in their 2-1 win over Concord Rangers

Obi Okafor start at left back for Barkingside in their 2-0 win at Rayleigh Town in Step 6

That's a shame. I was really impressed with Shobowale in pre-season..
I'm not sure if they have or haven't. None of them are on the U19 section on the website or been included in any U19 squads for a while.

There wasn't any comms over the summer regarding which players from last years U19 team were released.

@Exiled Shrimper Have Ronnie Blake, Louis Bragg, Thato Molefi, Olu Shobowale all from last years U19s been released from the club? Don't recall seeing any communication about players leaving.
Thato Molefi and Olu Shobowale are still very much at the club and played in the last U19s match away to Maidstone United.

Ronnie Blake has departed the club and is now playing for Southend Manor; Louis Bragg has decided to concentrate on playing senior football for Hullbridge Sports.

The U18 and U19 player profiles have now been updated on the official website for the 2024/25 season: https://www.southendunited.co.uk/teams/u19

Nice one! Just trying to keep track of the players out on loan / dual registration.

Is it just, Beau MacDonald, Jack Stone, Mikey Faulkner and Obi Obafor?

Beau MacDonald started for Cambridge City as they were defeated 2-0 at Felixstowe & Walton United in the Isthmian League North Division. MacDonald was substituted after 57 minutes with the score already 2-0 by that stage. Cambridge host MacDonald’s former club, Concord Rangers, at St Ives Town on Tuesday.

Heybridge Swifts didn’t require Mikey Faulkner or Jack Stone as they won 2-1 at Capershotts against Waltham Abbey in the same division. Faulkner was an unused substitute following his three assists for Blues at Hashtag United in midweek; Stone didn’t even make the matchday squad despite his four-goal salvo in the Essex Senior Cup on Wednesday.

On Friday night, Obi Okafor’s Barkingside earned a 1-1 draw at Cricklefield Stadium against Brimsdown in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. The hosts took the lead in the first half but were pegged back after their goalkeeper was dismissed with 20 minutes remaining, managing to hold on for a point with ten men and an outfield player in goal.

Beau MacDonald haunted former club Concord Rangers as he seized on miscommunication in the Beachboys defence to give Cambridge City a third-minute lead at Westwood Road this evening. MacDonald was substituted in the fifth minute of stoppage time during a 2-0 Isthmian League North Division triumph for City.

Joe Poxon featured as a 63rd minute substitute for Great Wakering Rovers in their Essex Thames-Side Trophy quarter-final victory over Cannons Wood at Burroughs Park. The scoreline was 2-0 when Poxon was introduced and Wakering ended up running out 5-1 winners.

No match for Cambridge City this weekend, so just Heybridge Swifts in action at Step 4, where Mikey Faulkner was a 59th minute substitute at Scraley Road hoping to help turn around a 1-0 deficit against Grays Athletic. Unfortunately Swifts conceded three more and lost 4-0 in the Isthmian League North Division. Jack Stone was not in the matchday squad.

Beau MacDonald started Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat for Cambridge City away to Newmarket Town. City were 3-1 down after 63 minutes when he was withdrawn. Yesterday they won 4-2, away to Witham Town, also in the Isthmian League North Division, with all the scoring completed by the time he was introduced as an 82nd-minute substitute.

Mikey Faulkner and Jack Stone were unused substitutes as Heybridge Swifts claimed a late 2-1 victory away to Sporting Bengal United in the same division.

At Step 6, Obi Okafor played the full 90 minutes for Barkingside as they were narrowly defeated, 1-0, in the Eastern Counties League Division One South away to Newbury Forest last weekend. They didn’t have a fixture this week.

Jack Stone was on the scoresheet for Heybridge Swifts as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the BBC Essex Senior Cup last night. Stone netted his fifth goal in the competition this season just before half-time, turning his man as he received a pass from Ben Allen before sending a deflected strike into the net. He was withdrawn after 54 minutes of the 2-0 win over Witham Town ahead of another goalscoring appearance for the U19s this afternoon.
