LoanWatch (outbound) 2024-25

Jack Stone has today posted this on X -
So, my time at Heybridge has come to an end. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved at the club for the time I’ve been there and wish them all the best for the future🙌🏼
@officialswifts

Beau MacDonald was introduced as an 81st minute substitute for Cambridge City immediately after the hosts had gone a goal down to Waltham Abbey at the Sawston Community Stadium on Tuesday evening. Playing on the right-hand side of midfield, he was unable to inspire a comeback, although he did break up an Abbey counter-attack in the closing stages. He had earlier been cautioned just a couple of minutes after his introduction.

Elsewhere in the Isthmian League North Division, U19s defender Olu Shobowale has joined Basildon United on a dual-registration basis. He wasn’t included in their matchday squad for the midweek 1-1 draw with Felixstowe & Walton United as anticipated; instead he was part of the U19s team that defeated Dartford 4-1 on Wednesday morning.

Another third-year, George Pulham, has linked up with Essex Senior League club Great Wakering Rovers, where he joins Blues team-mate Joe Poxon. With no competitive fixture for the U19s until 8th January, both will be hoping for some match time over the next month.

Jack Wood made his Torquay United debut as a 62nd minute substitute in their 2-0 win over Farnborough. The Gulls were already two goals up when came on, although he almost capped his appearance with a goal when he cut in from the right five minutes after his introduction and sent a deflected effort narrowly wide. He also nearly provided an assist from a corner, but he effort was blocked. Torquay moved ahead of Weston-super-Mare and Truro City to the top of National League South.

In the Isthmian League North Division, Beau MacDonald started for Cambridge City in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Brentwood Town. He was replaced on 84 minutes with City trailing to Mekhi McKenzie’s 50th minute finish. Today he was introduced as a 69th-minute substitute as Cambridge defeated Grays Athletic 2-1.

Obi Okafor has also made a couple of appearances for Barkingside in Eastern Counties League Division One South. On Friday 6th December he came on as a 56th minute substitute, with Barkingside showing character from 3-0 down but ultimately falling just short as they lost 3-2. Last night he scored the second goal as Barkingside ran in three unanswered second half goals to defeat Dunmow Town 3-0 and lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

In National League South, Jack Wood was introduced at half-time this afternoon with Torquay United goalless against Hemel Hempstead Town. The Gulls will be top of the table at Christmas after a penalty earned them a 1-0 victory at Plainmoor.

In midweek, Beau MacDonald started for Cambridge City as they travelled to March Town United in the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup Second Round. Cambridge led 1-0 early on, but were reduced to ten men and conceded an equaliser before MacDonald was substituted on 88 minutes. City ended up losing 9-8 on penalties. He was back on the bench today as Cambridge battled back from a half-time deficit to win 2-1 at Redbridge in the Isthmian League North Division.

At Step 5, Jack Stone has linked up with Stansted of the Essex Senior League on a dual-registration basis. He was an unused substitute as the Airportmen were thrashed 5-0 at one of his former clubs, Great Wakering Rovers.

And at Step 6, Obi Okafor started for Barkingside in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. ‘Side took an early lead against promotion-chasing Hutton, but ended up losing 4-2 at New Lodge.

In National League South on Boxing Day, Jack Wood was an 84th-minute substitute for Torquay United as they drew 2-2 away to Weymouth, for whom Brandon Goodship netted twice. The Gulls remain top, but just four points separate the top eight sides and fourth-placed Truro City are the visitors to Plainmoor tomorrow.

In the Isthmian League North Division, Beau MacDonald was introduced as an 80th minute substitute on Boxing Day as Cambridge City thrashed Sporting Bengal United 5-0. City were 4-0 up at the time. MacDonald was an unused substitute on Saturday as Cambridge won 3-2 at home against Heybridge Swifts to move into the top half of the table.

Jack Stone was handed his first Stansted start in an Essex Senior League fixture away to Saffron Walden Town yesterday, and he marked the occasion with his 15th competitive goal of the campaign to put the Airportmen ahead on 38 minutes. He was taken off with 74 played, shortly after the Bloods had levelled, and Saffron Walden went on to win 2-1.

Jack Wood was an unused substitute at Plainmoor as Torquay United edged out Truro City, 1-0, to maintain their place at the top of National League South on New Year’s Day.

Midfielder Beau MacDonald was also picking up splinters yesterday as he remained on the bench throughout Cambridge City’s 1-1 draw with Mildenhall Town in the Isthmian League North Division.

Beau MacDonald: He need to be recalled and move to club like Basildon Utd on loan, especially they lost some of their players, to start every games.

Personally I think Beau would do a better job in the first team than Jack Wood. He was thrown in at the deep end a couple of times last year and held his own. Strong and determined, I'd definitely not be averse to giving him a go

Considering he hardly ever plays for Cambridge City in the Isthmian North (Step 4) I'd have to disagree. Maybe a Step 5 loan would do him the world of good.

Beau MacDonald was an unused sub in Cambridge City's 2-1 away win at Ipswich (Wanderers). Seems like he needs another move to get some regular game time. Struggled with this at Concord in the same league too so maybe a drop to Step 5 is what he needs.

Mikey Faulkner joined Basildon United at Step 4 (Isthmian North) on loan and made his debut playing 90 minutes in the Bees 2-1 home defeat to Redbridge. Basildon now sit 17th in the league, two spots above the relegation zone.

Basildon have a couple of former Shrimpers youth players in Sam Brogan and Lorenzo Saponara in their squad. It also appears that Faulkner is rebranding himself to Mike rather than Mikey.

Faulkner spent five games on loan at Heybridge during October and November scoring once at the same level.

Jack Stone is still at Stansted in the Essex Senior League (Step 5) where he has scored once in two games. The Airportmen have had a few games cancelled hence Jack only playing twice.

Obi Okafor is still at Step 6 side Barkingside where he has scored twice in 22 games in all comps. They play in the Thurlow Nunn First Division South where Barkingside sit 15th, just three places below the drop zone. Potential relegation could see Barkingside in the Essex Olympian League. Southend Manor in threat of being relegated too.

@Exiled Shrimper are there any other players out on loan / dual reg outside of Stone, MacDonald, Faulkner and Okafor.

One more I picked up this week is U19s captain Joe Poxon, who has played four games (three starts and one substitute appearance) for Basildon Town in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. Poxon scored on his debut, a 4-2 win at Newbury Forest on 9th December, and in a 5-3 victory at FC Baresi on 4th January.

Any youth players out on loan at id say step 4 and below and not making an impression would imply that their days are numbered at Sufc. Even at 18/19 if you can’t stand out at that level then you’ve no chance having a full
Time career in the game. For every Dwight gayle there’s 50 miles Mitchell-nelsons

Great spot! I’d have never found him unless one of the U19 RT’d it!

@Exiled Shrimper A George Pulham was subbed on for Stansted yesterday, is this our George Pulham?

There was also an Oscar Jones starting for Hullbridge Sports alongside Beau, is this the Oscar Jones in our U19s?
