Loanee watch 2022-23

NLS
Jaden Crowhurst was on the bench for Hampton and Richmond v St Albans having signed on loan today to try and help move the Beavers away from relegation. Teammate Tommy Davis started. The Beavers took a 4th minute lead but their advantage was short lived as St Albans equalised and then took the lead half way through the first half. Crowhurst came on in the second half to try and wrest something out of the game and whilst Tommy Davis did have the ball in the net but it was ruled out.

Jack Wood was also on the bench for Tonbridge as they faced 4th placed Worthing. Tonbridge fell behind on 22 minutes but turned the game around. They equalised on the hour mark and then with 10 minutes to go they scored a winner. Jack Wood then came on to help see out the game. Tonbridge stay 10th.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker started as Aveley took on struggling Bowers. Like Southend they took the lead from the spot just after an hour and like Southend they added a second to win 2-0. With all the top six winning they remain in 3rd.

Isthmian North
Louis Arrowsmith took on Wroxham. The Swifts had more of the first half with one of their best chances being from good work from Arrowsmith. Wroxham took the lead on the hour mark. Heybridge struggled to create much more after than and it finished 1-0 to drop Heybridge outside the playoff places.

Despite signing on loan the other day Ibrahim Kamara didn’t make the Great Wakering squad as they traveled to Bury Town. Maybe they’ll be a spot for him next game as they lost 1-0. No Luke Reeve for Tilbury’s game against Stowmarket either. He was on the bench last time out but wasn’t in the squad at all. They lost 2-1.

The midweek action saw Hampton and Richmond travel to Twerton Park to face Bath. First year pro Tommy Davis was in the Beavers’ starting line-up but third year scholar Jaden Crowhurst was only on the bench. It was a goalless first half but after just 5 minutes of the second half Bath took the lead from an apparently sensational free kick. The Beavers fought back and 10 minutes from the end grabbed an equaliser.

Braintree had a second consecutive bye in the Essex Senior Cup. After we were a no show and withdrew from the competition they appear to be the beneficiaries of a second half no show at the Jobsworth Stadium as Col Ewe were 2 up at half-time but conspired to lose 3-2. Technically this isn’t a loanee update as Jon Benton was already recalled and back on the bench for the firsts at Maidenhead but who tires of reading of Col Ewe losing?

NLS
Jaden Crowhurst, who should have been starting at Roots Hall if we needed to rest Gus, was on the bench again but Tommy Davis was in the Beavers side that took on Slough. After a goalless first half Slough broke away to open the scoring on 69 minutes. Tommy Davis was sent off late on for two bookable offences.

Jack Wood was another riding the pine as he still can’t get in their lineup ahead of Lewis Gard. He was unused as Tonbridge won 2-1 away at Dulwich.

Isthmian Prem
Ollie Coker’s Aveley faced struggling Kingstonian who had former Shrimper O’Shane Stewart in midfield (and trialist Ibrahim Bangura in defence). Aveley took the lead late in the first half and held onto win. Aveley are now second.

Isthmian North
Ibrahim Kamara was on the bench for Great Wakering. He made his debut on 62 minutes by which time they were already 3-0 down. Their opponents Felixstowe, who are 4th, added a 4th in injury time. Wakering are now bottom

Louie Arrowsmith played as Heybridge faced Brentwood. This one finished goalless. Heybridge miss out on the chance of moving up into the playoff places on a trip to midtable opponents.

Isthmian Prem
Ollie Coker’s Aveley took on Potters Bar. Aveley took the lead just before half-time and doubled it just after the break for a 2-0 win that keeps them second. Coker was subbed late on as Aveley sought to run down the clock.

Isthmian North
Louie Arrowsmith faced Witham Town. Heybridge took the lead on 18 minutes and went into the break 1-0 to the good. Louie was subbed at half time and in his absence both teams scored one apiece second half. The win moves Heybridge up to 5th

Ibrahim Kamara had his first start as Great Wakering faced off against Basildon. Wakering took the lead after half an hour but Kamara’s former teammate Callum Burkey equalised second half and it finished a draw as bottom of th e table Wakering picked up just their 13th point of the season (from 26 games).

Finley Purcell made his Hullbridge debut against Tilbury. After just 5 minutes he was picking the ball out of the net. It was 2 on 19 minutes but the game was called off due to
heavy fog shortly afterwards!

NLS

No Tommy Davis for Hampton. Jaden Crowhurst was on the bench again awaiting his first start. Hampton took the lead but ex youth teamer Dominic Poleon first equalised from the spot and then put them in the lead. Crowhurst came on at half-time as they sought to get back into the game. alas Poleon turned provider to make it 3-1 and soon after it was 5-1 with Poleon completing his hattrick. That wasn’t even the end of the scoring as Hampton pulled one back before the leaders grabbed a 6th. A chastening defeat for Hampton, clearly missing Tommy Davis, and they slip down to 22nd.

Jack Wood was on the bench again for Tonbridge as they faced up against Concord, who had former team mate Jimmy Wallace in their line-up. Wood was an injury time sub coming on at 2-2 and whilst Tonbridge had a chance to win at the death that was the final score. The draw takes Concord above Tommy Davis’ Hampton.

Isthmian Prem
Ollie Coker was in the 10 shirt for Aveley again as they went hunting for a 6th consecutive win. They went in to the break 1-0 up and it should have been two just after but a penalty was saved. However Coker made it two and the game safe soon after, firing in off the post. It finished 2-0 and Aveley stay second.

Isthmian North
Louie Arrowsmith took on Sudbury for Tilly’s Heybridge. Heybridge fell behind after just 5 minutes but equalised through an own goal on 36 minutes. Sudbury regained the lead and in a search for an equaliser Arrowsmith was replaced by another former youth team product Rhys Henry on 83 minutes. That proved the trick as Heybridge scored an injury time equaliser against the team who were leaders going into today.

Finley Purcell was in goal for Hullbridge who also featured Luke Reeve and Sam Brogan as they travelled to Wroxham. They took th e lead on 56 minutes but Purcell was beaten 3 minutes afterwards. Within 19 minutes it was 2-1 Wroxham and that’s how it finished.

Jacob Bland was on the bench for Great Wakering having signed midweek. Ibrahim Kamara made his second start as they faced highflying Coggeshall. It looked they were going to hold out for a point until Coggeshall scored what looked like a late winner on 87 minutes. Kamara was then booked in injury time but the game was apparently abandoned deep in injury time after an injury to a Wakering player. Let’s hope they are ok.

In the midweek NLS action Tommy Davis played in Hampton and Richmond’s 3-2 win at home to an Eastbourne side just outside the playoff spots. No Jaden Crowhurst - is he injured or dropped from the bench?
Richmond fell behind to a deflection on 20 minutes but equalised just before ht before talking control second half with two further goals. Eastbourne did manage an 87th minute penalty but Richmond held on for a much needed 3-2 win to be a point above the relegation spots.

Isthmian North
Jacob Bland made his full debut and Ibrahim Kamara also started for bottom of the table Great Wakering at 8th place East Thurrock. Like the seniors though they found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes but it did finish that way, although it required a penalty save late on from the Wakering keeper to keep it down to 2.

Fin Purcell played alongside Luke Reeve for Hullbridge as they hosted Gorleston. They held out for an hour but Gorleston scored three times in the final 30 minutes to run out comfortable winners in the end.

NLS
Hampton and Richmond relegated Tommy Davis to their bench as they faced Dulwich Hamlet. No Crowhurst either. Andre Blackman was in the Dulwich side but went off after 34 minutes. Good to know he’s maintained the fitness levels he demonstrated when turning out for us under Bond. Despite having a man sent off late on Hampton finished 2-0 victors.

Also on the bench was Jack Wood. He can’t get in the Tonbridge side ahead of Lewis Gard but came on as a late sub and scored an 88th minute winner. Hopefully that will get him some more match time.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker was in 2nd place Aveley’s side as they travelled to Herne Bay. Coker was involved in the build up as Aveley took an 8th minute lead only for Herne Bay to immediately go up the other end and equalise. Aveley retook the lead midway through the second half from the spot. Coker was subbed on 88 minutes as Aveley sought to run out the clock. With leaders Bishops Stortford drawing, Aveley move level on points but Stortford still have those two games in hand.

Isthmian North
Great Wakering had Ibrahim Kamara and Jacob Bland in their defence as the bottom side hosted midtable Maldon and their former teammates Terrell Egbri and Harry Phillips. They were good enough to keep a clean sheet as Wakering ground out a goalless draw for their 14th point of the season.

Louis Arrowsmith was up against New Salalmis. They took a 10th minute lead and doubled it 10 minutes before the break. Arrowsmith went off after 45 minutes. Tilly’s men added on 84th minutes third to run out 3-0 victors. The Swifts remain in the last playoff position.

Fin Purcell and Luke Reeve played for Hullbridge as they hosted East Thurrock. Hullbridge took the lead on 40 minutes. It didn’t last long with Thurrock going 2-1 up in quick succession early in the 2nd half. It finished that way leaving Hulllbridge in relegation difficulty.

I would hope we would be keeping half an eye on Tonbridge striker Greenidge, this is the profile of player it would make sense to bring in to replace Hyde once he goes back.

In the midweek action Hampton took on Tonbridge in what might have been some Shrimper v Shrimper action. However Jack Wood’s last action for Tonbridge appears to have been to score the winner on Saturday as his loan doesn’t appear to have been extended. Tommy Davis and Jaden Crowhurst were both on the bench for the Beavers. Crowhurst was the only one to make an appearance coming on after 81 minutes with Tonbridge 1 up. Whilst he was on the field Hampton won their second penalty of the night but it was again saved and it finished 1-0.

Blimey, GWR need to up their game considerably. I hadn't realised what a shocking season they are having.

NLS
Jack Wood was back in the Tonbridge bench having extended his loan until the end of the season. He came on with them 3-2 down and just over 10 minutes left but wasn’t able to make a difference. No Crowhurst again - is he injured?

Tommy Davis was back in the lineup for Hampton and Richmond after a short spell on the bench as they took on Braintree. He was subbed on 78 minutes just as Matt Rush came on for Braintree depriving him of the chance to go up against his former teammate. Braintree had taken the lead on 72 minutes and that’s how it finished.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker seemed to get stuck in as Aveley drew 0-0 at home to Carshalton.
The result actually moves second place Aveley closer as leaders Bishop’s Stortford fell to a shock 3-0 defeat. Carshalton fall to 8th.

Isthmian North
Louie Arrowsmith missed out through injury. Heybridge seemed to miss him as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at struggling Gorleston that drops them out of the playoff places.

Ibrahim Kamara and Jacob Bland played in Great Wakering’s crucial win at Witham, only their 4th of the season. They fell behind after 12 minutes but Bland equalised 7 minutes later with his first ever senior goal. They then took the lead with just over half an hour played. They weren’t quite able to hold out as Witham equalised with 6 minutes left but Wakering won it with an injury time penalty.
Wakering stay bottom but they are now just a point off the relegation playoff places and so have everything to play for.

With Southend not in action today did anyone take the opportunity to watch a young Shrimper out on loan?

Went to see Oli Coker today who's really enjoying getting minutes with Aveley. Playing just behind the target man up top, Oli picked a number of good positions, showed lots of ability on the ball and put a number of decent set plays into the box. Will admit he should have scored first half, taking a good first touch before slicing it wide. Took a necessary booking near the end to prevent a Lewes break away. Overall, a 0-0 game in which Oli did himself proud. Was also happy with Arsenal's result and took the time to mock me over Spurs. Cheap shot 🤣 The lad is progressing really well and has a semi final to look forward to on Monday.
