Yeah, I saw that.

Perhaps it's an omen?

I think its all about how the club go about advertising it, if they get it right by using every possible source to promote the event i think it could be a big hit. It would technically be like watching a home game and the uniqueness of such an event in my opinion would draw enough, if not more than enough people to cover the costs.

I would gladly pay a tenner for a "jumbotron" type screen. Other clubs have been doing this for years, so the technology would be there....

No answer yet to the can we drink alcohol in the seats question yet.....

Great if you can pull it off, but I doubt you'll get the necessary interest to pay for it. If it was a more vital match towards the end of the season then yes!

If the bulk of the cost is hiring the big screen then how about getting it beamed back to the screens in The Shrimpers and Far Post bars - would there be enough capacity in those to cover the cost?

You have to get Sky to do it because they hold the rights hence the big screen etc...

Do you know the costs yet, Dave? How many people at 10 quid a go would you need to break even?

I only ask because if it was maybe a fiver or 7.50, they'd be a lot more takers (I'd imagine).

i would come not matter how much it was so would my friends thats about 10 more and if i know quck enough i could advertise it round my school and i reckon i could get 50 more people but the admission could prove to be a stunbling block for most people.

I'd definatetly be interested personally (especially if we can drink alcohol whilst watching the game) but I doubt that the club could pull in enough people to break even on the outlay without some major marketing in the next week.

actually that's rubbish. More people mean more variable costs e.g. catering/beers, more staff. So you would need more twice as many.

I'd imagine the All At Sea team would be there, but I can't see more than a few hundred attending at £10. Cheers Sky, as ever.

Can't we get someone to smuggle in a lap-top with mobile internet access and a web-cam and do a live net broadcast on here!!!!

Assuming catering/beers is run at a profit, then the double crowd at a fiver could work out better. I.e. more beer/burgers/programmes (yes ship a few hundred down from Orient) sold etc. Variable costs should not be that great, unless Sky have a per viewer pricing.

Would the price include Chris Kamara and Martin tyler commentating along with the usual pre match and after match analysis with Richard Keys and guests??!!...

I was gonna say but didn't want to look like an arse

On top of the reasons outlined already, you may be able to get economies of scale by making twice the sales but these would only be recognised if we reached somewhere near our goal.

Also, I think, in theory, it is semi-variable costs that may rise. Variable costs should stay the same. This is assuming we have a profit margin of sorts on each sale.

Understandably, you wouldn't want the club making money from this sort of thing but it's difficult to budget with such an uncertain demand. If it went anywhere, I'm sure people would prefer it to go to Southend.

I've just put together a conference on forecasting and it's nigh on impossible to forecast for things which haven't been done before. But there are ways...

I think it would be a great idea, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend if the Club did arrange this though.
