As a Blade I'd be very surprised if he were to choose Millwall over us.

He's got the opportunity to play for a club that could realistically challenge for the Premiership in a season or two playing in front of big crowds. He'd be earning good money at a club on the up, under a manager and assistant who will only develop him into an even better player.

Totally understand your feelings on the transfer request though. Shoe on the other foot and I'd be ****ed off tbh. We've lost several players to clubs in higher divisions over these last few seasons, players with potential who've gone on to be major PL and international stars. It's crap and I've called them all sorts for not showing the loyalty I'd give if it were me.

But it's the nature of the game. From their point of view they have an opportunity that might not come again.

Southend United or Sheffield United in the Championship?

Sheffield United or Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League?

Until your club gets where it wants to be, you will always lose out, the trick is to somehow climb the leagues at the same time.

Apparently Sheff Utd have put in a bid for CM Lundstrom, captain of Oxford and they think this may now be a) alternative to Lenny or b) trying to panic Ron that they may move on to other things

Depends on what they are after as these two are different types of midfielders. Lenny gets about the pitch better and is more athletic whereas Lundstrom is a much better footballer.

Couldn't agree more with you on this. Some people think he's going about it the right way. That's their opinion I don't agree but I accept they think that. They're not idiots for thinking that or childish.

Anyone would think we have said that we hope he has a career ending injury! I've seen far worse written about players wanting to leave. I'm sure if you searched Nicky Bailey then you'll see some idiotic comments.

Unless of course you want him to rot in the reserves. That's really childish.

Once again Rigsby you're twisting what I said to suit your agenda. I said if he downs tools if he doesn't get his move then he can rot in the reserves.

But we've almost lost that chip now he's put the request on because they know he wants out.

I know he's been a great servant over 6 years and we have helped to make him the player he is now. So the least he could do was show a bit of respect to the club and just wait until we get the right price rather than coming out with a transfer request.

The fact is he is under contract until this time next year, so if Ron wants to be a **** he can make him stay. If we don't get the right money then keep him, then if he stays and down tools let him rot in the reserves for all I care. Haven't got time for players who do this!

Thought I would highlight it for you Rigsby as you seem to be unable to read what I write properly.

Welcome to Shrimperzone....

We're not really a bad bunch and on the whole, we do talk a lot of sense where football is concerned. Like most footballing sites we have disagreements but try and keep it amicable.

Like you guys, we're passionate about our club and want the best for it. For what it's worth, I'd rather RL sign for you guys rather than Millwall, they're really not liked around these parts.

Try to ignore him Mr Fatty, we have it on good authority that Leoblue drinks his bathwater.:winking:

And to my two scale model railway layouts in my man cave at the end of the garden, one of which has pre-electrification London, Tilbury and Southend steam engines and carriages to make the wrench of moving less severe for him.
Normal OO Gauge 1:76 16.5mm or EM 1:76 18.2mm?
Do like a good EM finescale model railway layout, as the track proportions look much better.

Not so.

Lenny has a keen interest in the railways and is, I understand, factoring in this to any decision he may have to make about his future. Sure Millwall would mean access to all the lines going out of London but Sheffield would also give access to the many lines in the north and the steam railways in places like the North York Moors.

He'll be dead chuffed!!!

I'm sorry i'll get my coat...

What way do you think Lenny should go about this? He has been offered a new contract that he has decided to decline and hand in a transfer request. Should he stay because the fans like him or should he see out his contract then walk away for nothing or should be be declining a new contract and telling the club he has loyally served them well for 6 years and he would like to move on and try and prove himself at a higher level?

He's entitled to say that he wants to play at a higher level but why does he have to request a transfer? It gets out in the open and we lose the bargaining chip to get as much as we want. It essentially says he is unhappy with the club and in the eyes of the potential buying club that means he wants out and we will take a silly offer!

It's just my opinion!

Oh dear Ricey, yes it was you who suggested he might down tools but other posters jumped on the rot in the reserves sentence.

I'm sure as a military man your are familiar with the phrase "if the cap fits". Well you are certainly wearing it.

For your information the club decided not to play Lenny, as clubs often do when they have a decision to make about a players future. So no he hasn't downed tools

The very fact that Championship clubs have offered more than £500,000 for a L1 player in his last year shows how professional and effective he has been for our team.

Some of you slagging him off and questioning his 'loyalty' might want to think about getting down to RH more twice a season. We would all benefit from more support, in fact we might just make the Championship ourselves.

He makes it known that he would like to move on. May alert more clubs and we could get more, more less for him.

I know he hasn't downed tools and I didn't question that at all! That isn't new information either as it's what CP reported after the Braintree game.
