Leon Clarke's ours if we want him!

The Watermill Wino

Coach Guru⭐🦐
I know it's after just one appearance but Tilly and Ron have done something unbelievable, they've negotiated a fee to BUY Leon after his loan deal with Sheffield Wednesday and if he's the missing piece of the jigsaw, then he's ours.
How refreshing that we have developed our business dealings before it's too late.
Well Done Southend. :clap :clap

Nice, but we are as quick to praise and go overboard as we are to condemn. The first time I saw Scotty Forbes and Mitchell Cole i thought they were fantastic. Would like to see a few more games first.

We signed Freddy on the strength of a few fluke goals and he turned out to be a waste of space. :p I'm hoping we've turned a corner on the forward front. The law of averages says that one of the 80m strikers we have is prolific :D

:D

Agreed ORM but unlike the previous players mentioned we do have a better management team at the helm and 4 months to run the rule over him.;)

Can you buy someone who is on loan outside of the window?

No

You have to wait for the window to re-open in January to sign him.

Same scenario we had with JCR. He had to stop playing in December because the 3 months were up and we had to wait for the permanent transfer. And wait. And wait.

Unlike JCR though we do have him till January which I believe is the next window. Lets hope he can keep up with his form and team work. All this does seem to have echos of another out of favour striker from the midlands, was it Stan someone?

I remember Sada N'Diaye scoring on his debut and thinking this could be the final piece in the jigsaw.

One swallow does not make a summer but the class was evident. None of our strikers could score a goal like that or have the vision to make 2 perfect through passes. In my opinion.

To be fair, Sada was one of most naturally talented young players in Europe when he joined the Shrimpers from Troyes but I think he was let down by journeymen like Livett and Coleman. Just think, if Sada had been given the chance to strike up a partnership with Trevor Fitzpatrick the blues may have gone stratospheric by the turn of the millenium.

Well that is good news.
If he does turn out to be this illusive 20 goal a season man, then he'll be the third Tilly has brought in! (Constantine and Eastwood being the other two)
Maybe then the people who always pipe up about how useless Tilly is in the transfer market will pipe down.

good news IMO, hopefully T&B haven't made up their mind yet though and they'll tell Leon this, he has a few months to really impress

Wasn t Connie already here when Tilly took over from 'no passion in the eyes' Wignall?

..............19 goals in 103 app's
But 6 goals in the last 19 app's
.....4 goals in the last 6 app'
including 1 in 1 - that's a 100% rate!

Ok guys lets get some perspective here. I was at the gills game and I'm heading up to Oldham tomora. Leon's had one game and he looked damn impressive. However its well too early to say he could be the 20 goal a season striker we've been crying out for. You've got to remember his goalscoring stats from previous clubs aren't amazing. However he's still young and the signs are good at this stage. What i will say is he showed a touch of class that our other forwards haven't shown so at worst he could be the partner to mr 20 goal. How about Leon partnering Matt-20 goal-Harrold for the rest of the season. Problem solved surely? :hilarious:
