Breaking News Leon Chambers-Parillon Signs

I’ll repost what I said in the transfer thread so I can find it again for when he flops/gets sold for a million pounds but this is the type of bet I want us to be making. They won’t all work but if a few do we’ll be more than happy.

Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Chambers-Parillon fits the profile of the type of player I’d want to roll the dice on.

Plus we’ve always done well with players called Leigh-on-Sea/Leon C (Cort, Constantine, Clarke).

Good age, good size, looks like he should be athletic but also described as classy on the ball. He seems to have been piecing it together recently and is coming off of success rather than trying to rebuild his career which I always like. Ideally I’d like a bit more track record of success behind him but if he had that he’d cost more so you’re gambling that you’re getting in early before he really takes off.

From the glimpses of Slough highlights I’ve watched he seems to be comfortable bringing the ball forward and can play a pass. He seems to move easily with long strides but I never saw him in top gear so I don’t know how quick he is. He appears to have a languid running style which might rile a few and from the highlights didn’t appear to grab games by the scruff of the neck but he likes a shot from distance which should endear him to those who want players to shoot every time they cross the half way line.

He appears right footed so I’d imagine he’ll be Coker’s understudy but maybe Coker will switch to the left more. I’d imagine the plan is to slowly introduce him from the bench and see if he can work his way into the starting line-up permanently for next season.

He’s only stepping up one division so the gap in standard shouldn’t be too much, especially as he had an academy grounding with Luton (potential John Still connection?), Villa and then Oxford U where he turned pro, once he’s adjusted back to full time training.

There are no guarantees and not all moves will pay out but a player with his profile should have good upside and as a regular in NLS his floor should be squad player adding depth in NL. That’s the type of odds and risk-reward I’d be keen to roll the dice on several times a year to see if you can uncover a gem. I wonder if this was one the data identified?

On paper, looks exactly the type of signing we need.

Can’t confess to having seen him play, but I get the impression this signing is more with an eye on next season, as opposed to this. Similar to when we signed Kensdale & Morton.

Give him half a season to get up to speed, with the odd appearance off the bench, and possibly the odd start towards the back end of the season.

Then, with (hopefully) a full pre-season behind him he can make Roots Hall his playground and start dominating games.

Very much the right type of profile of player we should be looking at.

Well done Southend United. Up the data 📈

If he gets up to speed in the next six months I am pretty confident we will make the NL playoffs next season

Who gets dropped though? Coker and Morton both on the team sheet for me. I guess replacement for one of Miley / Husin or Appiah-Forson
