Left At Half Time - 1st Time in 37 years

The booing at half time was at the referee because there was a blatant handball which deserved a yellow card but the player was already on one so it would have meant a red card.

And the other 20 handballs the Barnsley players committed without getting caught! :thump: Was that ref blind or something?! :thump:

You ask if anyone genuinely believes if the players dont care, and that is just a knee jerk reaction, well, I am sorry, but I dont believe the players care, not one jot. Barrett, yes, accepted, but then he is a Southend fan, but the rest of them?... If they actually cared, then they would have run through brick walls today like Barnsley did, they would have actually shown some fight when we were steamrollered by Hull the other week and they wouldnt have laid down and died in one of the biggest local derby's for years.

The reason they lost today was because of a lack of desire, passion, fight and will to win, and that is unacceptable, simple as that.

We are a better team than Barnsley, a much better team, but they beat us because they wanted to win, we on the other hand, showed no fight and no passion, and I cannot stomach that I'm afraid.

Yes, they threw in a few tackles in the last 20 minutes and they scored a goal, but we can all look good when it doesnt matter. I absolutely knew that them doing that for the last 20 minutes would mean some fans would go away thinking we tried our hardest but just fell short, but they wont fool the majority I am afraid. They could have played until midnight and wouldnt have threatened Barnsley winning this match - someone mentioned the chances we created, erm, where? The free kick that hit the post, fair enough, but you have obviously forgotten Barnsley hitting the bar shortly after we made it 1-3 and also missing 2 very easy one on ones with Daryl!!

The only player to come out of this match with any credit to him is JCR, who showed every single player exactly what passion, commitment and desire meant and with 11 of them today we may well have got something. He is exempt from any criticism today, and for the most part, the entire season.

The biggest culprit in all of this is the manager, who today has tested my patience as a fan to the limit I am afraid.

Everything that was wrong with us today is down to him - No passion in the players, and are we surprised when we look over and see him standing there with arms folded? I havent heard or seen the post match interview, but you can almost resite it word for word before it is printed. He made only one substitution today, and we were losing 3-0!! Even taking that small fact away, it was extremely hot down there and players must have been suffering from the heat, and yet only Foran is replaced.

Of course, the reason he only made one substitution is because he had no one on the bench to bring on to change the match, aside from Bradbury.

That is absolutely shameful at this stage of the season. I guess it wont take a genius to workout who scored yet again for Bradford today? Why is he not back with us? Well it would take a smarter man than me to come up with any justifiable reason - Shameful by Tilson and Brush, no excuses.

This squad is weaker than the one we came up with and will not be good enough to bring us back up, neither will our manager and unless a mircal occurs in the last 3 games of this season, that is our lot in the Championship for a long time - It is a damn sight easier to stay up this season than try to get back up next season and we have thrown away the chance of that, and that is shameful.

I wrote to the chairman after the Hull game demanding an apology from the management and players after that, and I even included my ticket stubs and demanded my money back for them, and I have yet to have a reply. I am afraid when the postman comes on Monday, he will be getting another correspondant from me, but this time, it will be a damn sight harsher than the previous one.

Relegation was always a possibility after coming up last season, I am not naive enough to think it wasnt, but this is not acceptable, to go down without a fight and that is what we are doing. And if you need any more proof, before the Hull game we were 4 unbeatean and looking good, now all of a sudden we are a team who have conceded 12 goals in 4 games and have lost 3 out of 4 in such a manner that I have not felt this low about my club since I started going in 1981!

Forget the debate about whether players care or not and face facts - we are simply not good enough. RM promised a war chest in January if the stadium plans got the go ahead. They never materialised but whether the statement was bull or not remains to be seen. Tilly has always been quoted as saying he just can't get players in on loan yet all other clubs around us have managed it so again it really says something about the club and the management if the statement is factual. Tilly accepted the plaudits when things were going well but now, when it matters, he must also be able to take the criticism. I'm fed up with seeing both Tilly and PB leaning on the dugout wall, never moving, never giving instructions and never berating the players when all other managers quite rightly provide 90 minutes of instructions to their players. Quite honestly they look clueless.
Add to that the absolutely disastrous choice of signings this year then Tilly has to accept the majority of the blame. Paynter, Harrold, Ricketts and then Foran, all strikers and none of whom are nearly good enough for this level. At least Wayne Gray could score his fair share of goals and complimented Freddy well. He was far superior to any of this seasons signings and we are led to believe Tilly would only give him a 1 year deal but signed Harrold on a 3 year deal. Mark Bentley would have done a job at this level and when struggling, as we have been, would be a 100% player you could rely on,
Let's face it we're down, but the squad now, in my opinion, is far worse than last year, and I really don't feel optimistic about next season in Division 1.
Teams such as Hull have bankrolled the signings of Vaz Te, Parlour and Windass, all quality signings, in an endeavour to stay in the division, but quite honestly, RM and Tilly have done absolutely nothing positive to stay up despite the knowledge of the anticipated revenue from another season at this level would bring.
I personally feel very very let down by the club and the management and really do question the ambition of both.

Thats a tad unfair i think. Maher was without doubt the class of the midfield from both teams. Sure, he gives it loads of verbal, but thats just the way he is. He aint gonna change at this stage of his carreer.

There was a 15 minute period that he just stopped doing anything & the team joind him. Captains are meant to lead by example. It may have been a bit unfair, especially as he ran himself into the ground 2nd half. It was in the first half we lost it.

Nothing is worse than reading your negative drivel after every defeat. Just remember where we've come from in the last 3 years. I'm the one being constructive!

Well you dont have to read it mate, you can always just ignore it if it offends you that often.

Unfortunately, when the team are doing what they are doing at the moment, then that is to be expected.

Praise when praise is due, quite right, but if you are unable to take criticism when it is equally due, then you should not be involved in football.

If you study my posts so intensely as you claim to, you will have noticed my post after the Preston game in which I said I was wrong for saying they were already relegated and that they had no chance of winning at Preston and praised them to the hilt.

I am able to see both sides of the coin, but it would appear my friend, you are only able to harp on about the good times and ignore what has happened today and on the whole, most of this season.

Not really a rounded opinion that is it?

Well, not posted for a while. Not since the Col U debacle actually. mainly because at the time I said if the players couldn't be bothered then neither could I, and that hasn't changed really.

I didn't make the Preston game, didn't even hear it on the radio or net (currently in Spain on a sabbatical you understand) and I didn't make today's game either and you know what, I'm bloody thankful I didn't.

After Preston I really thought the boys would be up for this one but alas, after just logging on at the local t'internet cafe I can plainly see that, just like the Col U game, they want.

I'm resigned to league one now. All I hope for is that we don't have to go to Southampton with a win possibly securing Championship football next season. I'd much rather go there knowing we are down and not have to go through the agony of what surely would be a major display of 'bottling it' should the game mean that we would survive with a win.

Anyways, enough of this doom and gloom I now find myself in. I'm off down to La Herradora's finest beach bar for a few swift ones.

ps. Where we have come from is totally irrelevant, it is also a completely mute argument and has NOTHING to do with the situation we find ourselves in at present

They were up for it, though. They just simply aren't good enough. In terms of fight, character and work-ethic today was a hell of a lot better than Col U last week, even before the crazy last 20 minutes. To be honest, that's close to being the most depressing thing about all of this.

Well we have all seen Tilsons worse side as a manager, this season he has not made his signings work, apart from mccormack really, no loan signings which may not be his fault, he doesnt seem to have the balls to critisize the team and have a go.

To say were not good enough simply isnt true Beefy, that is the most annoying thing about this whole sorry episode.

We played Barnsley off the park up at Oakwell in the FA Cup and in all honesty in the first FA Cup game against them which we should have won, we have out footballed many teams this season, and up until the Hull debarcle, we were 4 undefeated and won 2-0 at Ipswich who have subsequently beaten both Barnsley 5-1 at home and today beat promtion contenders Derby.

If we are not good enough to beat a very poor looking Barnsley side, then it doesnt bode well for next season at all.

As soon as Barnsley scored, we werent interested, too many players lost fight, bottle and completely hid away from what was going on.

That is why we lost - Yes, we do have a squad which isnt great in terms of footballing ability, but it has enough to beat Barnsley I am sure.

We have a handful of decent players and that's it. There won't have been a worse strikeforce in this league this season than the one we started today with.
