Left At Half Time - 1st Time in 37 years

No I'm just VERY ****ed off that a few weeks ago it was in our hands to escape and it's all gone pear shaped, pretty much after that 88th David Healy goal v Leeds. We are better than Barnsley/Hull/Luton/Leeds and shouldn't be in this position.

Then you missed the change in the team when Foran went off

You missed us hit the post, you missed us bombard the Barnsley goal, and you missed playing as we can

Leaving at half time is your choice, but....

Yeh....We started playing once we were 3-0 down and why? Because Barnsley sat back on a 3 goal lead and invited us on thats why. Not because we were fantastic and decided to fight for it.

Matt Harrold is the worst player ive seen in a Southend shirt for quite a while. He looked like Bambi on ice!!

We need a clear out in the summer. Eastwood out which will give us some money to buy two good strikers because we need them badly.

We are all disappointed, as you say we put ourselves in a good position to save ourselves.

Personally Im gutted, but after Wolves I wrote us off and the fact we gave it our all from December - March and made up 12 points is the positive Ill be taking from this season.

.

Lol, good description. Not the worst player, but was very poor today.

Exactly, Jam_Man.

Still reason enough to stay for the second half

Decided to fight for it? Barrett spent most of the second half just outside of their penalty box, there were tackles flying in all over the place, and we kept trying to put the pressure on, hardly the same as the capitulation of Good Friday

Have the people moaning on here thought of supporting Col U? Theyre a good team in Essex in enjoying success and would welcome more fans? :thump:

Christ, who are our scouts? Who actually recommends people like Bradbury and Harrold as good signings?

In fairness Bradbury did pretty well when he came on. we actually started holding the ball up and playing well in the last third.

Admittedly he never looks like scoring (even though he almost did with the weakest shot Ive seen!)but had a good impact today.

Then you must of had your fingers in your ears, because I heard the booing, especially at the half time whistle.
The booing at half time was at the referee because there was a blatant handball which deserved a yellow card but the player was already on one so it would have meant a red card. The ref had a word but didn't book him. This happened just before half time. Perhaps the radio didn't mention this but that was the reason. The crowd then booed the ref when he came out for the 2nd half.

Yes we are, but some of the players obviously don't give a **** and I'll be bolloxed if I'm going to watch them prance around the pitch while they lose to a team like Luton.

Bring on next season and the axe on the absolute donkeys that Tilson has signed this season.
Well all of the players i saw quite clearly gave a S***. 3-1 down but still chasing the game until the final whistle. Just because they lost doesn't mean they didn't care. The hurt on their faces was quite clearly visible.

Darryl has retreated in to his shell and stopped collected high balls - the corner that they scored direct from should never have been a corner as Daryl should have come for the original cross -
He was also at fault for the third Goal as he stupidly Punched the Ball into danger when he had no one challenging him and your average grandma could have caught the Ball .They scored from the resulting set play .
But that's Darryl for you ,great Shot Stopper but never commanding his area or defenders and liable to get caught out with anything above head height and rarely comes out to catch the ball at corners like all the other Goalies do .

Totally agree, I don't think it is all about passion (Harrold has plenty of that for example) - it comes down to basic ability and I really don't think we are equipped on either the playing or the managerial side to be consistent enough to stay in the Championship.

Are you saying that Harrold is a useless lanky waste of space with the control and turning circle of an oil tanker, the heading ability of an amoeba and all the talent of a one-legged tap-dancer ?

:minger:

Maybe it wasn't a case of not giving a sh!t, but being deflated by the first two soft goals. Hammell was AWOL when he should have been marking the goalscorer, who had loads of time to pick his spot & shoot. Darryl c0cked up big time on the corner fopr the second goal, but how anybody could slag him off after saving us week in week out, is beyond me.

I have to say that after the first goal, we seemed to give up. The phrase that came to mind was gutless. Maher spent more time in that excuse of a ref's ear rather than getting stuck in. At one point he just strolled around not doing anything.

That said, I think we're down, but I expect us to win at Plymouth. I think that is the Southend we all know & love!!

I dont think that anyone seriously questions whether the players care. That's just a knee jerk reaction. The real question is whether the majority of them are capable at this level and sadly the evidence tends to suggest they are not. Is that the players fault? probably not, they have more than likely played to their limits of skill more often than not.
No, sadly, one has to question the nous of the manager in the transfer market and/or the commitment (or indeed ability to fund) of the owner.

Here Here.

Stayed 2/3 mins after the match and Barrett went on the floor and held his head in his hands. Looked seriously upset! Then there was Gower and Hammell who also looked very upset. Infact, they all looked upset! Very very upset. Lets hope we can bounce back and win our next 3 games!

I think todays result, has confirmed relegation! Honestly guys, stop lying to yourselfs, it's pretty much a certainty now.

Sorry guys, just really upset. If Gowers/Hammells (cant remember who?)'s freekick had gone in and not hit the post, I reckon we would have at least gone on to get a draw. We were all over them the second half ('spesh the last 20mins!) and thought we played very well. Just severly lacking the shooting power. Thats one thing we need to sort out for next season (whereever we be!)

Oh well, still, I'm a shrimper till I die.

:D

Thats a tad unfair i think. Maher was without doubt the class of the midfield from both teams. Sure, he gives it loads of verbal, but thats just the way he is. He aint gonna change at this stage of his carreer.
