Yeah, just trying to think of what they might have meant.

I also thought Brown said that Barnard only joined the team yesterday, but if he had been training from November then surely he would have mentioned that.

You could see there being a good reason for him to actually have been here for that time, not having played in ages and supposedly being local, but it just doesnt to have any truth to it does it.

It's Barney's distinct running style that sets him apart. When in full flight it looks like he's on hot coals. Anyone else think that?

Yes, his close control when running the line was always impressive. Not sure where his game is at but the bloke was class when here last time and has had some half decent loans out in recent times. Here comes the red rep but really hope this isn't another Harris/Freedman/Eastwood signing.

Eastwood is a cut above the other two you mention - he gives hope and even if no fulfilment that is worth something.

I also am surprised he was signed after Smith decided to go to Swindon, so Barney was not a first choice in that selection process. He was a nuisance hard working team playing forward who held the ball up and took shots, headers and sniffed about the box, not a lot of pace so we need the likes of Lennie, Kevan, Strakes to know that and make the runs behind.

Not sure where I read it but pretty sure in one report it said Barney was actually due to join us in September but he then picked up his ankle injury and that's why this move has only just happened.

Edited for accuracy

You do love the guy, don't you? I wonder just when Fred will get game time now Barney is back. 5-10 minutes at the back end of a game is no way to get up to full match fitness. I would love to see him have a run of matches to finally nail whether he is up to it anymore or has the knee finally reached retirement. Speculation on here about Fred's fitness is fine, but it just that, speculation. However, I do now get a feeling though that Brown has side-lined him, otherwise he should have come on for a longer run-out on Saturday.

5th round draw: Brighton vs Hull

Anyone else think that makes the defeat easier to take?

They are both welcome to it!! Certainly a draw that would have been garbage for us if we had turned Hull over. Happy to concentrate on auto promotion now.

So pleased to have Barney back, he could certainly be the missing piece to win us promotion this season.
Barney is the sort of striker who with the right service will score goals wherever he goes, and whilst not one for pace he has that ability to know where the back of the net is.
When he was here last time, I always wondered how good we could have been with Barney and a fit Freddy up front.
Would so love to see this combination at some point in the coming weeks, with Hurst and Strakes/Coker providing the crosses.
Difficult to say who would make way but with the size of our squad am sure there will be a few injuries/suspensions to deal with.
Think we may see him on Tuesday night ahead of Barry, cant wait :winking:

Thats one player.

You said they always end up failing, and other than Freddy (who still has 5 goals this season), I cant think of anyone else.

Barnard also hasnt had the injury problems Eastwood has had in recent seasons either.

I meant any club not just us,Fred ain't set the world alight this time round.

He set my word ablaze when he scored in the extra time at Burton. :raspberry:

I just hopes he gets more opportunities to make a difference .......... even the best player in the world can't do a great deal when only given the last 5 or 10 minutes of a game.

Lee Sawyer.

Lee Sawyer.

Lee Sawyer was a kid on loan, and his contribution then was questionable and for me always looked better than he was, didnt really do a lot with the ball.

Hardly the same as a pro who was an established member of the team like Prior/Edwards/Eastwood/Barnard and unlike any of them dropped out of the league rather than going higher.
