If I were in need of a property developer I'd definitely call Martin dawn. They can't even finish their dinner let alone a property deal.

More delays? Surely not?

If that is the case (a search on the Echo website reveals nothing) then we run the risk of the Seaway development going through planning before us.

If that development goes ahead, it will kill any hopes we as a club have of moving to a new stadium and subsequently any hope of a future outside the bottom two divisions.

You say that as if it's fact. Is it, or is it just your opinion?

If a new cinema gets agreed there it could certainly have a massive say in our plans being agreed. 3 cinemas in town? Cant see that being agreed.

They have to get theirs agreed first though, I personally think that would be a rubbish place for a cinema.

You don't have to be all that old (honest) to remember a time when there were 5 cinemas in Southend (including two in Westcliff). :cricko:

ABC, Ritz, Odeon, Classic,.............Plaza? And the one at Shoebury opp the Cambridge?.

Mascot,In London Road.Burnt down in a fire.Used to go to Saturday morning cinema club sessions there.Classic used to be The Esseldo.

Plaza was before my time.

Remember the Rio in Canvey too.Doesn't really count though.

Dont forget the one we had in Leigh as well!.

Coliseum, wasn't it?Remember seeing one of the Doctor films there, back in the 60's.

This is interesting, still not sure which TUIB refers to as the 5th though..

It's my opinion of course, I don't own a crystal ball. But we are extremely limited in what we can achieve losing money every month at Roots Hall. If British Land pull the plug because the Seaway scheme gets in first, we're stuffed really.

They were proper cinemas with only one screen (back in their heyday) young man.

Proves my point further. One multiplex shows more films concurrently than all of those old cinemas put together.

(That said, I don't know if 3 mulitplexes will create too great a supply. I have no idea how to calculate that...)

Coming bottom of the division in surveys like this is another reason why we need a new ground...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35742963

Interesting that some clubs refused to take part in the survey. They are obviously bad ones. You only have to see QPR's ground to know that. However, you then have to ask why we did take part given that we're so bad? There can only be one conclusion: to make sure people are aware of how bad Roots Hall is...

Or naivety on the part of the club's representative. It's an old ground, there weren't these requirements in the 50s.
