IMHO he is a natural finisher, not blessed with pace granted.

I thought that when he played alongside Cassidy they were a real threat, against Pompey in particular, a real handful.

It seems to me, that Browns preference is for a player with pace (of whom he didn't managed to get) playing off a target man, neither brackets of which does Pigott fall into.

I'm not so sure. I can't deny his Wembley heroics and goal, but I do wonder whether getting him back could end in tears. Whilst he was scoring early on in the loan, he was good, towards the end I though he was a bit jaded and at times disinterested. Obviously I ignored my concerns completely during extra time and onwards.
Agree with you there, though I initially put both factors down to it being a loan move. He hadn't been playing regularly and probably didn't get much of a pre-season, so that could help improve his match fitness massively. Thought his disinterest, particularly after being dropped, was down to being fed up of playing in such a system and not getting game time. If Brown can convince him that the move is right and he'll play in a role he'll enjoy then great, but given his recent comments if it's a wider attitude issue then maybe steer clear.

Me too. Slightly concerning that two former strikers have now commented on the system not being one they wish to play in. I know we played 4-4-2 for the majority of last season, but it makes you wonder if Brown has already hinted to them that we'll predominantly be lining up 4-3-3/4-5-1 next season, hence Corr doing the offskis.

I agree that Pigott's not a target man though. He might be tall but he's got more in his locker than just out jumping and out muscling opponents to knock it down for someone else.
Spot on, he isn't a target man but I'd be a bit concerned as while it didn't suit him, it did get goals out of him and you'd expect him to be a bit less reluctant to play in that way. If PB can bring in another Barry Corr type player then maybe Pigott can play the other role alongside him up front.

Joe Piggot has now been transfer listed by Charlton

There is nothing anywhere on the Official Charlton site, on Twitter or facebook to confirm this. There is an unconfirmed article earlier in this thread which suggests there are 4 Charlton players probably off. There is a big difference between rumour and transfer listed.

When did that stop anyone on here:hilarious:

I think the boy is talented but not aggressive enough (silver spoon syndrome perhaps?)

We used to make a note of how many headers he jumped for and never managed to get a touch. So yes he's right not a target man. As he scored his 2 goals at the RH v Cheltenham and in other games missed at least three one-on-ones, where he never had any confidence, I would say not going to be a poacher either. As the only one of our players who never looked sharp fitness wise, I would say not a 'grafter'. Not sure what role he sees himself playing in any side.

Yes of course I grateful for that Wembley moment but on the all important ten games before the final he looked half the player he was when he arrived. He may have thought it was only going to be a short loan but after a good start he only has himself to blame for not wanting to be part of a team that showed brilliant character in the last 2 months. He certainly hasn't earned the right too (didn't like Newport either) make snide remarks about his loan clubs or mangers.

LOL he may live to regret his recent comments, needs to keep his head down and find a new employer before spouting off, totally understand his frustration with Brown's tactics but his agent should be telling him to zip it

The Promotion Tactic? Is that what you mean?

Have to agree with these comments. Do I think Pigott could shine in L1? Maybe in time but I'd be concerned if he was the kind of striker we are looking to start right from the off in August.

He also looked much better alongside Cassidy than he ever did with Corr.

i think we're making mountains out of molehills on this.
he wasn't disrespectful and didn't really have a go at the club, just that he wants to be permanent rather than on loan and wants to play at as high a level as possible. all fine as far as i'm concerned

Exactly - he is a young player who was loaned to us for a few months. His loyalties lay with Charlton, as they should.

We are eternally indebted to this young man and I would love nothing more than to see him get a go in the Championship. Whether he is successful is a different story, but he deserves his chance nonetheless.

Thanks Piggy! 🐽

Will he retire from football? After all, he only wants to play for Charlton...

Like being dumped by your girlfriend.

If we do sign Piggy permanently I bet he will be one of those players that will not be forgiven for that interview by some on here.

Of course not and why should he, we are the Thames Estuary Galacticos and we should only be going for those who WANT to play for us. I mean, who DOESN'T want to play at Roots Hall every week?

Barry Corr?
