I Can't believe Scunthorpe have a rejected a £4 million bid for Kevin Van Veen (he's not even their top striker) from a Chinese club.

Apparently they are holding out for £8 million. The greedy northern gits.

That being said, if he really is worth that figure, I do hope he's Beijing bound before 3pm on Saturday.

We need numbers there are not enough an injury to Cox and it's bye bye to play off hopes, 2 transfer windows in a row we have failed to deliver.

Do you not think we are trying? It's not an embarassment - we are NOT a fashionable club. You cannot expect to attract all and sundry. How can you say we failed in the last transfer window when the players have got us into the position we are in?

I think that our lack of activity today says quite a lot about our ambition when it comes to making the play offs.

No real difference between this transfer window and previous one's.

Have some faith in the team, we've already got a decent solid squad, if we can't bring in anyone better then we currently have, it's no big loss IMO, just a waste of time, money and effort on everyone's part. I don't want to see us signing any old player, just for "signing sake" because it's "deadline day".

All and Sundry??? Anyone would be nice. Having 5 targets and failing to land one is pretty embarrassing. We failed last window as our numbers were awfully low and they still are. A few injuries and we will go back to the form we showed at the start of the season when we had a few out. Really thought we'd get atleast someone in.
Also if you look at Saturday's starting 11 only 2 players were signed last window - JD and Cox.

While I agree with a lot of the comments that the squad is in pretty decent shape, clearly Phil very much wanted another striker in- he's spoken of it often enough this month! To seemingly fail to land 5 named targets (probably a fair few more unnamed) doesn't sound great.

Barnsley are close to signing another striker so we may still be in the race for Samuels.

Only 8 points between Barnsley and Reading in the league, wouldn't make much sense to strengthen a potential play-off rival.

Don't think there's anything embarrassing about missing g out on targets. Especially when you consider some of Phil's targets are often ambitious - you can mitigate all those strikers we've missed out on this window quite easily:
Matt Smith. Always would have been a huge coup, went to a Champ club for 500k.
Woodrow: Again given his experience since we last saw him, always going to be tough to bring in. (some didn't even want him back!)
Ajose: Going back to the club he was clearly happy at last year with the goals he scored. I also would estimate that the loan fee they can afford is slightly higher than what we were willing to pay for a not guaranteed 1st team starter.

The problem is that when you set such high targets the realistic ones slip away...

Some one alert PhilBrown That Dimitar Berbatov has just flown into London . And is on the look out for a club to sign for Now there is a striker :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
