Jade Goody - RIP

Ok..I have had enough. I hope none of you have to watch a loved one die slowly of cancer...it's not nice.

I can't be arsed to spend time posting with so many people who have no compassion for cancer sufferers. I think 4000 posts is enough on any forum!

Remember to pick up your toys on the way out....

To be fair, there is a wide range of views on this thread, those strongly against Goody and all she stands for, through to those who would hold her up as 'standing for Joe Public'. Seems only a few are really against Jade Goody personally, but even they explain their reasons. Maybe the subtlety has been lost on you, but I think more people are against the media coverage and the martyr status being bestowed upon her then any ill feeling towards her.

Threatening to leave because people have views on a Jade Goody thread contrary to your own seems, well, somewhat odd. Surely, if you feel so strongly, it would have been better to enter reasoned debate, rather than make (either genuine or plea for attention) threats to leave.

Two of my Grandparents have died of cancer in the not too distant past, both with the greatest of dignity manageable in such a situation and without blanket media coverage of even the most degrading aspects of their demise. The lasting respect that I have for both of them has its basis in the way they actually led their lives, rather than some bizarre reinvention when it transpired that time was running out.

Excellent stuff Dudley. I would imagine that most of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another, but this doesn't stop us from being able to debate the rights and wrongs of the media coverage of this circus.

After 4000 posts I would have expected you had come to terms with the Zone banter/humour.

Incidentally, of those 4000, I reckon 3800 ended with an !

That's exactly what we're discussing. And for the record one of my grandmothers died of cancer also. In her case, she couldn't wait to go, after my grandfather died, she had to "endure" the rest of her life (18 months as it turned out) without him. She refused all treatment so that she could be with him sooner...

True, its the media hype which gets me .
My gran died of Parkinsons Disease , yet all the chats shows and she didn't get a mention once , Shocking

what P****d me off royaly was that she had never even been to Barnsley let alone met him.

To this day I still don't go too close to the telly when its on, you never know what you might catch

Nothing to do with us not letting you sell your shirt on here then?

Yet you freely dismisss children suffering from malaria in Africa without an ounce of compassion. Double standards.

And that's all I have to say about that.

That kind of applitude to human life is shocking.

God Bless Jade, hopefully your new found faith in God gave you some comfort in your final days, I hope the family will have some consideration shown to them during their grieving, I don't think any media company should have "rights" to that process.

Mods - is it worth changing the title of this thread now?

Yep, time to move on now.

While I want no truck with the fascination for celebrity culture, 27 is no age to die, and to leave two young children without their mother, and today being Mothers Day is all the more poignant.

As I've said often enough if her untimely demise leads to more young girls being screened for cervical cancer then so much the better.

Never really liked her or what she stood for but 27 is a very young age to depart this mortal coil. May she now rest in peace and everybody move on from this.
