Jade Goody - RIP

I'd never wish death upon anyone and it's always sad when someone so young becomes a victim of cancer but I won't be mourning Jade's passing. If I did, I'd be a hypocrite as I despise her and all she stands for.

I thought I'd witnessed rock bottom in British society in 1997 when I saw hundreds of people queuing like gormless sheep outside HMV to buy Candle In The Wind but the Jade Goody phenomenon is just embarrassing. One minute she's a racist villain, now all of a sudden she's the modern-day queen of hearts in the eyes of the tabloids, just because she's at death's door.

I'm ashamed to be British when stories like this continually dominate the national news.

I gather she was described as the "new People's Princess" in one of the tabloids and that there people camping outside her house "to offer her support".

Just how low can society go?

I hope you are not spoling this beautiful thread about the People's Princess with an unwarranted political dig.

Max Clifford will sue you!!!

Indeed. With possible exception of Karl Duguid I couldn't agree more. I've no time for this celebration of celebrity culture that has become prevalent. However and as I've said before in these threads if her demise ensures that more girls of her age and younger are tested then so much the better.

I'd be happy to trouser a few quid if OK magazine want to publish my obituary.

Let's face it, we are all going to die.

If they publish it while I am still alive they are less likely to try and make me look like a **** if they know I will ****ing redecorate their offices if I don't like what they have printed.

I wonder who'll get the lead role...

My money's on Vin Diesel, or maybe Bruce Willis..

Duncan Goodhew?

She stands for ordinary Joe Public, had a hard upbringing, bad family life, but she has used what she has at her disposal to make money and to save for the future of her own family..
