I didn't know you could click on the results and see which way everyone voted!

Can't believe the way Ron Martin voted and PB, as well.

Not surprised that 'RootsHallisashrineandshouldneverbedemolished' voted "no" though.

There are some people worth debating with and some not. I've had this with Wriggy before when it has told me that published accounts are wrong etc after I proved them wrong. There's just no point taking them serious. I think maybe they are as delusional as a certain chairman.

All you proved was you don't know how to read accounts. We did not spend £3m on players wages in L2, not even half of that.

Yet others are delusional because their not part of your Ron and Brown out campaign

I think we're closer. I think we've been hugely unlucky - the calling in of the plans originally and the global financial crisis scuppered things. I also think the council are more on side now.

If BL HAVE pulled out, and we have no planning application, are we closer, or are we back to square one ?

When issues such as this thread covers arise it is because sufficient Southend supporters feel very strongly about the future of the club. Of course if any action is taken running costs will need to be covered and that is where those that really want to see some changes will have to put their money where their mouths are. How many will do that, I don't know. All of that said,

Is it unreasonable that genuine supporters want to know what progress there has been made on building a new ground?
Is it unreasonable that supporters want to know what the financial viability of the club is if FF doesn't happen?
Is it unreasonable to know whether there is anything they can help with to achieve progress?
Is it unreasonable to know if there are other approaches that could be taken?
Is it unreasonable to want to know some information rather than nothing at all?

I think all of these things are very reasonable, and that is why threads like these begin life. We may be completely rubbish at organising anything, but doesn't mean that all those concerns arn't genuine.

I posted this a while back. I'm tweaking it a bit now to read:

  • Supporters want to know what progress there has been made on building a new ground.
  • Supporters want to know what the financial viability of the club is if FF doesn't happen.
  • Supporters want to know whether there is anything they can help with to achieve progress.
  • Supporters want to know if there are other approaches that could be taken.
  • Supporters want to want to know some information rather than nothing at all.

All of these are valid in my view, and it would help immensely if some of them could be answered. However, I'm not expecting anything on anything, that way I won't be more disappointed at my ignorance on progress than I am now.

As FF1 has already been agreed then no. We know we can build a stadium etc on that land. FF2 is obviously an upgrade so many things have to be agreed before you actually submit the plans. Including who will actually finance the project.

Keep talking people. Just because results on the pitch are getting better, let's not lose sight of how frustrated some of us feel.

At the very least questions to RM when we are doing the business on the pitch, will show that it's not just a reaction to poor football performances
That said, it has still not been established what the action required is. A couple of concise bullet points will do,

There is only one thing that will bring RM down, stop giving him money, unfortunately that will bring Southend down. So the question is is it worth it to start again. All you guys who think a demo will make any difference are deluded. He owns the club, thats it, you can shout all you like, he does not give a monkeys.

Remember everyone waving flags at RH supporting the move ? Remember people marching down to the council offices supporting the move ? Remember being asked to view the BL designs ?

He'll get NIMBY's complaining anyway. What he needs is the fans support to carry it through. Perhaps we should make it clear he hasn't got our support anymore....unless he starts explaining exactly how this grand plan will benefit SUFC !

There was a suggestion of a tongue in cheek dig at our leader, with notification to the media of what it means. Obviously, if this, or the next steps, do not work then we've have to try other options. I don't think it would right to discuss these on an open forum, mind.

Any action, like you suggested, that goes on during the game will have a detrimental effect on the players, and as such would not get my support, and I would be surprised and disappointed if TBV supported this.

I am sure you can discuss what you want done , by either RM or others. Sure , how it will be achieved may be a bit more sensitive, but considering that RM keeping those things "under his hat" is one of the major criticisms of him, I am sure you would not want to do the same.

Or am I missing the point and its all about having a protest, in which case I would suggest that the objectives are well laid out before the protests are organised .

Don't think Ron cares, if he had the money he would build it today regardless. We aren't going to provide him with the millions he needs to finance it.

If it's at a certain time at each match, and the media, supporters and players know it's directly aimed at RM, I can't see how it can have a detrimental effect on the players. If anything, I bet they'd like to know the latest, aswell. So we may b doing them a favour. After all, it is their employer we're talking about.

It's a totally different situation. He's the owner of the business and we're customers. Many of us are annoyed that there are no updates. How we protest about this, is for us to know and for him to find out ! :winking:
