****ing Bull****!

85 min gower for Black, 85 min goal Forester,

89min Macdonald for odhimado , 90 min goal Hammond,

Thats really not great results from the substitions tilly!!
and thisnt the first time, I think subs are made to improve the team not destroy it!

That first substiution actually was made straight after the goal.

Leading twice and lose 3-2?!? What a load of bollocks! ****in waste of space defence! Not acceptable!

"Found it hard to bring players in" load of bollocks! Spend some ****in money! We've got enough of it from the sale of players and decent seasons! Same old Southend ay, sell the best players and keep the money. Should have invested in some quality but no, two poxy ****in loans.

Why doesnt Tilson use the subs? I spose he'll come out and say how unlucky we were and that it just wasnt meant to be. Change the record you tosser! Never ****in learn!!!

To all the blind people out there who will come on here and put me down for all this, wake up and take you head out of your ****. The sun doesnt shine out of Southend United, Ron Martin's or Steve Tilson's **** so stop defending them!

not going to argue with most of that, but i wish people woul realise that there's more to signing players than just "spending money". If the player doesn't want to play for us, then we're not going to be able to sign them. Similarly, if the player's offered more money, or a chance at a bigger club, then they're unlikely to sign for us.

As for tactics, I'm not going to argue.

all the crap about the new stadium etc, we will do a millwall when thats built, have a good stadium but languish in the lower leagues cos we cant spend any dosh on players, can see it now.

we should have a decent team to bring the supporters in first, to fill the stadium we need a decent team, doesnt any one see that!!!

xabia shrimper says time for a change are you talking players or management
Management. Tilson may be a hero (to some) for guiding Southend through two successive promotions but I think it's becoming quite clear that he cannot live on those laurels for much longer without the club free-falling back into the basement league. He appears not to have much (if any) clout with his fellow professionals to convince them to come to Southend United - neither does Brush - and I think the club is not going to progress any further without a change of management ...

Decent players dont want to come and play in our tin cow shed though! I think the new stadium can only be a good thing

I have to agree. Its been the same old story in regards to getting players in for the past 3 seasons and im sorry but im not having that anymore. Our profile has been raised by two promotions and the man utd win so players are out there and they must fancy a go with us.

Tilson won the lottery when we signed Eastwood and he is the only reason we got two promotions and beat man utd and that is a fact. Now he's gone the cloud has been lifted from Tilson and its showing his true qualities.

It comes a time when enough is enough and nothing has changed from last season. 3 defeats from 4 and the defence leaking goals. Not good enough! Time for a change.

aint that the truth

Whilst I don't think that a change of management is necessary or a good idea at the moment, I just can't defend Tilly at the moment. All this loyalty and supersticious crap is making us suffer and he needs to see that quickly before we reach the point of no return.

As people have said, Barrett and Clarke CANNOT play together. They are both sub 6-foot, and they are too similar! One or the other has to go in favour of Richards for now, probably Liptak at a later date. Then maybe we'll have some f*ucking height at set pieces, because the amount of headers we've let in is unacceptable and wouldn't happen if we didn't have two short arses in defence! We're conceding FAR too many goals, and it's not acceptable. Thought they'd have learnt a lesson after letting in 80 last season.

The late subs have got to stop. It will always affect the team, because whether they're winning or not, a team will enter a certain mindset of "only 5 mins to go" towards the end, and to make all your subs then will just throw the whole team off of their game. Subs should be made around 70th-75th minute. If Tilson isn't going to make them then, then he shouldn't bother. 5 minutes or less isn't enough to make an impact for a sub! And if, as some people have said, Brighton started to focus on and exploit our weakness in lack of width on the right, then a change would have been needed straight away. I know what I'd have done. I know Gower was apparently off colour, but for the sake of width, I'd have kept him on. One out of Bailey, macca and Maher off, Black on on the right wing. Simple as. Not for Tilson though!!!

Drop the superstitious and loyal crap. Do what's right for THE SAKE OF THE TEAM and not for your conscience! Don't think a change in management is needed, but Tilson needs to stop being so niave and make the necessary changes to starting 11, subs and tactics, or we will be in a relegation battle this season. No exaggeration.

And be a bit more potent in the transfer market. We're trying, we're trying - it's not good enough. If the players we sold yesterday have gone for as much a i think they have, then we have around 2mil to spend, a mil if RM wants some to go towards debts. I'm no longer buying "it's hard to get playerss in". Look what some of the teams in our division have done. The two midfielders Brighton signed were quality aqcuisitions. Why can't we do it? The excuses are a load of rubbish. Maybe they should think about building a bigger scouting network out of RH.

The issue of Eastwood's emergence from non-league obscurity to internationally-acclaimed striker will always be wheeled out by those who continue to believe that Tilson can work the transfer market. Granted, he identified a special talent in Eastwood and the young striker did the business in front of goal. But who else has been brought to the club? A host of non-league youngsters in the vain hope that one of them might emulate Eastwood's success. Lightning doesn't tend to strike twice. A number of has-beens coming to the end of their careers; where are they now? A handful of nutcases that no-one else wanted?

It can't go on ...

So are you saying that Freddie Eastwood is the only decent signing he's made?

And as for "a host of"... just how many non league "youngsters" has he signed?

The only other non league youngster I can think of is Bailey and he's not doing to badly.

and he let kightly go, bad judgement, he was a quality player just needed to build up a bit, but rather than a years loan somewhere, NO LETS GET RID TILLY STYLE!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying very, very hard to disagree with what I would normally call reactionary posts on here. Tonight though, I agree 150%. Absolute f*ckin' disgrace.

:guns:

we seem to let a goal in everytime tilson makes a pathetic 85 min or 87 min sub.

Thats what I keep thinking.

6 goals conceeded in the last 5 mins of our first 4 games. WAY TO GO.

I am sure we will come good in the end but at the moment we are throwing points away all over the place and giving away goals.

Still no goals in the league from our front men. Our midfield is class going forward obviously and they keep us in games. If we had any other average midfield we would be bottom of this league, probably behind leeds even!

Tilson needs to have words with the players and he needs to get more out of them.

If you watched the Watford goalkeeper on Tuesday anything inside that area was his. When was the last time you saw Darryl do that....great shot stopper but how many of those stops are created because of his inability to come off his line.

I've been saying it for a long long time now, some believe Darryl is a superb goalkeeper due to his agility - quite frankly his command of the penalty area is SHOCKING and while the defence don't seem to be able to defend aerially either Flavs must take a fair chunk of that blame for our defensive record. To be honest I'd rather give Collis a try or maybe bring someone in on loan who actually knows what a goalkeeper MUST possess to be considered solid.

Won't happen though, Tilly will never drop him.....

What I'm implying is that the perceived centre of attention from our management seems to be the non-league circuit, not players proven in the Football League and/or Premier League. We seem to be becoming a club that plucks youngsters from non-league clubs only to thrown them out onto the scrapheap when it's determined that they are not good enough, such as Mitchell Cole.

We got lucky with Eastwood; I don't think we should rely on doing so again.

Although, TBF XS, that 'centre of attention' is a lot more acceptable now then it was earlier in the decade. Just think how many 'non-league youngsters' Little, Webb and Newman got in, only to chuck them on the scrapheap. The list would cover more than a few pages. Abbey, Belgrave, Risbridger, Salter. I could go on!
