Ibehre-less

Malones loan is up too. Ive seen him play twice and thought he was poor both times. Decent free kicks but couldnt defend for toffee. But if Herd aint fit that means Sankofa at left back probably.

No, it means a defensive shuffle with everyone moving along one place - I'm sure there's some kind of barn dance like that, swing your partners and move along?

Laurent's pace and skill is wasted up front

Eh? How can pace and skill be wasted up front? Where would you rather someone use their pace and skill to beat a man: on the halfway line on the touchline, or up through the middle to put someone through on goal.

Laurent's best performance for the club was against Leeds when he was up front and he absolutely tore them to pieces.

He's had plenty of time for a chance if you ask me. The fact he hasn't scored since January 09 in the game against Leyton Orient (for us) is very worrying. He offers pace yes but i'd rather bring him on late on in the game when it'd be more useful. By all means i'd love for Walker to prove me wrong but it's hard to envisage.

That would be a really worrying statistic and the sort of goalscoring return that you'd expect from a player who has spent the majority of that time (a) out injured, (b) on loan at another club and (c) played out of position on the wing.

How many games has Walker started up front in that time for us? How many were consecutive?

I don't get it about Calver, there's something strange there. He was a star in pre-season, then got shipped out on loan and since returning hasn't featured in the squad at all. I liked him, and he looked quite at home with the senior pros, more so than Walker to be honest.

I don't get it about Calver either. He didn't seem to offer anything when I saw him play. I'm a little surprised he is still on the books TBH.

Absolutely. But who was he alongside? There's no point in putting Laurent up front if he's going to be asked to play with his back to goal dealing with the constant streams of long balls forward which this side will inevitably send towards him.

I agree, but what I'd do is change the midfield so that we have a greater emphasis on passing football.

Sounds nice, but I don't think we have the players. Moussa, to me, still doesn't look capable of influencing matches from the middle. And no one else at the Club can pass a football.

Maybe, maybe not. We're not going to find out unless we give him a chance. By chance, I mean a run of consecutive games - and alongside a suitable workhorse who can win him the ball.

I'd also be looking for someone else who can pass the ball in the January transfer window.

Also even if we can't pass the ball, it is worth remembering there are two types of long ball you can play: lump it up there for someone to try and win in the air, or lump it into space (particularly the channels) for someone to run onto.

malone i'm not to fussed about leaving although i will say he has improved since being here, but i prefer herd so hopefully he's back from injury soon.

ibhre i'm not really bothered about at all. he didn't do his bit with holding the ball up but apart from that he did actually nothing else other than miss sitters. mk dons can take him back. i would rather revell to him anyday tbh.

i think the games are won and lost in the centre of the park with us at the moment and and with grant and macca i think we look too negative.

to have someone like laurent in the team we ae lucky and i've always thought if we had someone dare i say attacking minded like nicky bailey to help along and get in the box and waiting for the cut backs then we would be in a different posistion than what we are in. macca does his bit as does grant but when macca does get a chance you just know its going out of the stadium. its happened too many times and i thinks not really acceptable anymore. he is a pro.

Bailey was/is a defensive-minded midfielder. How many times did he get forward against us the other week?

Laurent has got to stay on the wing as, with his back to goal, he is not all that dangerous. However, unplayable when running at players (especially very averages ones like John White)

yeah walker on for the first 70 at least maybe stick dougie on for the last 20mins and tell him to run himself into the ground as he has so little of the game left. who knows he might even last 10 of those 20 mins!
