I have it on good authroity Fred deal is done.

Wouldnt they have made their interest known by now?

Of course they would have done. I'm sorry, but Rayleigh boy is living in a one-man land of delusion. Fred will go for around the £2.25 - £2.5m mark (plus a sell-on, hopefully), and he will be going to a big Championship club - not into the Premiership.

He has to prove that he has the hunger and temperament to succeed at the top of the Championship before he gets a crack at the Premiership. We all know how much he went off the boil, and how much his head was turned, after that Man U goal.

In many respects, this is make or break time for Fred - he has to prove himself all over again on a stage far bigger and more demanding of him than Roots Hall. I'd say that being at a big Championship club this season, with the prospect of Premiership football in the next 1-2 years is far better for his career at this stage - after all, it's better for him to be trying to prove his name again against the defences of Col Ewe and Blackpool than Chelsea or Blackburn.

He's clearly off to one of Charlton or Wolves - I just hope that whatever deal is struck is both right for Fred, and right for SUFC.

As my all time hero, is nobody else worried that Freddy could make a mistake joining Charlton? Their fans whinge like no tomorrow and get on the players' backs ( I got that from a Charlton STH),they will compare all forwards with Darren Bent,Pardew is the manager (just why did he lose the dressing room at the Hamsters ?),ably assisted by P.I.G, remember him?

The only upside is he can stay living in the same place presumably by signing for them.

Yeah looks like I was incorrect in my assumption we would be able to get Eastwood for less than £2m. I'm still pretty sure it will be closer to £1.5m than £4m though ( Rayleigh! ). I'm interested to see just how much Wolves and Charlton want the player. I'm intrigued why many of you seem to think Charlton are a much better bet than Wolves for Freddy - its not that easy to go straight back up having been relegated - although Sunderland and Blues managed it last year. I think Wolves could suprise a lot of peopel this year. Lets hope Eastwood is impressed by what he sees at Molineux.

Based on the original offer which I think you and most would agree was derisory, 2 million is more in line with which most thought & hoped he would fetch. Wolves are a great club steeped in tradition, and look to be moving forward with the takeover by Steve Morgan. Also McCarthy looks like he is assembling a young & hungry squad at Molineux. Good luck to Fred & Wolves if he goes there, I'm sure we shall be looking at your results & Fred's goals with interest nexr season, and hoping for a big promotion & goals add on bonus.:D

Yeah, like going to a club where players get on his back will be a complete shock to the system....

At least they wont expect him to win games singlehanded there.

I think the first 'low offer' was to check whether Eastwood would be interested in moving to the Midlands. Considering he was in the papers a few days later saying he would I think you could say it 'did the trick'. I wonder how much Sharp and Eastwood would have been available for had Pardew not bought Varney for £2m??

£2m minimum! You were never going to get him for cheaper than that - give up!

:thump: :finger:

Trust me, if you see him in the Old Gold next season, you'll think that £2m is the bargain of the decade.

Lets hope so. Just remains to be seen whether we can agree terms with the player and/or if there is more interest from Charlton.

Will Rayleigh Boy be eating the humble pie if the fee is confirmed at anything less than £4m? Or was he joking when he said that?:hilarious:

Fred although about right at 2 mill, will shock you Wolf..He is star player given the right amunition. I guess his links to your Romany area may have paid off.

Good luck to the lad ..he deserves his chance at a higher level.

Lets hope so, I'm still wary about potential interest from Charlton – but getting him to Molineux to have a look around will hopefully sway his decision.

I can see no way he is going Wolves....Charlton all the way ...

Bigger club, local , better prospects, support, infastructure you name it.

Come on Charlton - Make it happen.

wolfman - listen mate - 2 million is a steal and after a season he will be worth
three times that - hes a better player than Bent -

bet you is desperate to get your hands on him - i hope RM sends you away to get serious about the cash

Rayleigh boy was doing the same thing you were. You talked down the price, he talked up the price. It looks like the fee will be double what you were saying, and half what he was saying, which probably means its a fair price - as long as we get a percentage of any sell-on.

Considering Ron's already allowing Freddy to talk to Wolves you may want to revise that last comment...

He has accepted the offer hasnt he? Why would we offer more now?

As for Charlton being a better option for him we'll have to agree to disagee!

Indeed, time for Rayleigh boy to face facts. According to the Echo Wolves 2m has already been accepted.

There may be additional clauses, but its not going to be 4 million...

Don't think we have done, not formally. We've allowed Wolves to talk to him - which means that £2m was clearly our minimum threshhold. Doesn't mean that £2m is what he'll finally sell for.

;)

Why would Charlton bid more than £2m though? They'd bid £2m max if they know it will be accepted and then it's Freddy's choice.
