No it wasn't. West Spam friendly in the 90's. said it was a record then and close to 13-000. Don't remember too many seats being ripped out in the mean time. The Yeovil segregation was 1 row which consisted on 1 Steward, 1 Policeman all the way up. Why there was no space between fans? ask the club.:winking:

I thought the capacity at Roots Hall is 12,350!

Capacity stated on OS is 11427

South inc west family 2964
East 2878
West up to & inc W 2732
West X 599
North Y+Z 684
Rest of North 1562
Give or take a couple of seats
HOWEVER it isnt clear if the East fig includes boxes and directors box. I haven't had time to add up seats from the on line ticket system

a number of different sites are coming up with this figure but allowing 500- 600 segregation......

Ground Name: Roots Hall
Capacity: 12,392 (all seated)
Address: Victoria Ave, Southend-On-Sea, SS2 6NQ
Main Tel No.: 01702 304050
Team Nickname: The Shrimpers
Year Ground Opened: 1955

I'm pretty sure that in its present form that the most we are allowed is 11,400 odd like we had against chelsea and utd. The game against Yeovil was the max without segregation and I doubt we will ever see that crowd beaten or repeated at roots hall.

I'm sure the hammers game was with the old south stand or possibly standing areas still intact.

Maybe someone should ask the club to clarify so we don't have this argument evdry time we have a big game.

Any anoraks out there, it was West Spam friendly, Friday night game. 31-07-1998, All 3 ticket offices were rammed, we got stuffed 5-0. Announcer stated it was a record since the seating was put in and there was 3 or 4 deep standing in most of the aisles in the South and West stands. May be in the Longest pier programme for the 98 99 season. Help this is doing my head in.:nope:

yeh back in 1995 that was.

Does that mean its not 31,033 anymore ? Damn I used to love running up and down the South Bank as a youngster.

If Honest Ron just built that again he would only need one side not three. Cost Saving me thinks ! Maybe the stadium would

be built quicker. :raspberry:

Yeah, compulsory purchase order on those flats, and rebuild the South Bank. New Sainsburys at Fossetts. Job done.

As family commitments mean I'm no longer a season ticket holder i popped in this afternoon at around 4:15 as i was passing. I asked for a South Upper seat and was shown the screen which showed just 3 single seats for sale in the entire SU, which swiftly became 2.

Was told more may become available when any ST seats are released for sale after Saturdays game but didn't want to wait just in case but I'm sure some will be available at this time

Was that when Lampard scored a hat-trick? I can vaguely remember it being a big crowd, but 13K? I'm not sure about that.

The 12,300 figure was taken from the football ground guide. I thought this figure was accurate base upon the fact that thre were 11,750 at the Yeovil game. From what I recall there was a small segregation at his game.

Apart from the small section of the main stand no longer in use I do not recall the ground changing since the Yeovil game.

1 800 warchest

Thanks

Tried the number and all I got was a message saying No Need To Panic !!!! , The stadium will start work any day

I'm pretty sure that's the message I got several years back. But it couldn't be could it. He wouldn't lie to us would he ?

:stupidme:
