HT - Anyone still playing?

Well, I've finally given up on Def training. I'm 2nd in my leagu and over 10 goals and 3pts behind the leader Although I should beat him in the head to head at my place I'm never going to make up the GD unless I ditch the defence.

So with 4 Magnificent and 2 Brilliant defenders I need to change training.

I have several IM's 2 Magnificent and the rest outstadning. However they are all 19 or over.

I have no wingers to speak of....

After the sale of my extra defensive trainees I'll near 2 million in the bank.

What should I train next?

What's the difference btwn Through Passing and Short Passing?

What division are you in - VI?

I'd say keep your training going until they are world class (or even supernatural if a majority of them have: head or powerful speciality; passable or better wing or passing), otherwise you'll find yourself wanting to replace them a season or two down the line and its easier just to train them up another season. Don't worry if you don't promote this season, you should be in a stronger position to do so next season.

I'm in a IV and could avoid, just about, relegation with basically four world class inner midfielders in a 3-5-2, plus a winger. To regularly win games I've now got two titanic inner midfielders, and will seek a third next season to try and make it to III.

I'd therefore suggest after training defence, to train play-making. Brilliant is now supposedly the most profitable level to sell at, so that should mean plenty of brilliant playmakers available. You should be able to remain competitive whilst training brilliant playmakers up to world class or supernatural. I'd suggest buying 5 of them with specialities and secondaries. I train wing and am really struggling to find English players with magnificent and higher play-making and passable wing, let alone with a speciality. If you get a couple of 19 or 20yo brilliant IMs with head or quick and inadequate wing you'll make a fortune on them if you train them up to world class playmaking with passable wing.

ps If anyone fancies a magnificent defender with formidable wing, I've one listed for £850,000.

pps One type of passing trains forwards and midfielders, the other trains defenders and midfielders but slightly slower (as more players benefit). Can never remember which way round they are.

Thing is I really need to switch training to maintain interest. I let things wander last season and kept forgetting to arrange friendlies.. and I have done the same now this season.

I just want to switch to keep interest going otherwise I'm going to ditch the team completely....

It's so frustrating seeing my vastly superior team in Hatstats/stars getting beaten by some newcomers to the league just because they are training PM and have 5 midfielders.

Well, relegation to level V has done me the power of good.

I've shipped out a fair bit of old wood, rejigged the side, have a far better defence, just posted a formidable (low) midfield rating last time out, beat my major divisional rivals 5-2 in front of a sell-out at Roots Hall of 75,000, and I would have to drop a major b*ll*ck not to auto-promote straight back to Level IV given that I'm 3 points and about 8 goals ahead of the promotion-line.

Even so, my finances aren't fantastic - only £50K in the black and that's after getting £350K plus for my last home game. Eek!

But yes, still loving the game, and pleased with a couple of Youth Team prospects coming through the ranks as well...

:)

Do you counter attack?

When I play a decent team I CA, but there is only one other decent team in the league.

If I CA against the weaker teams I never score enough goals. I beat them 3 or 4 nil and my rivals are beating them 6 or 7 nil...

No matter how I play I'm just not scoring enough goals.

Still soldiering on in level IV and doing far better than expected and should avoid relegation. Getting around 265 Hatstats on PiN and am looking to switch back to defence training to improve on that area of my team which are all only Brilliant. Will purchase a decent keeper as well in close season to replace my current who is only Excellent! Hope to top 300 Hatstats sometime next year!

Still in there. Not going to get promoted yet again this season, counter attacking seems to be less effective these days. Ratings are getting back up there after a bit of a lull when I changed training and sold off the high earners, picking up 240+ with a wage bill of only £87k so making plenty of dough as sold out my 60k stadium last week.

Assuming the division leader goes up I should go up next year.

Last match:
Midfield: weak (very high)
Right Defence: outstanding (high)
Central Defence: outstanding (very low)
Left Defence: outstanding (very high)
Right Attack: solid (very high)
Central Attack: solid (low)
Left Attack: solid (very low)

The midfield is slowly getting there and regular passing training is slowly boosting the attack ratings. The lowest passing in my 14 outfielders is weak and they're all due to pop soonish.

I just can't compete with the leader who pulls in an outstanding (very high) midfield rating (and has the wage bill to go with it!!).

I see MtS 's stadium is75k what sort of size stadia is needed to pay for a World Class team?

B and GNH how big is yours.....Stadium........?

I am still playing, looking to stay in Level 3 but I need to start playing the game again as the past months i have pretty much neglected the team especially the youths. i have been hit by various injuries this season so far which has undermined the team when i forget to set it.

Anyway my best team this season which was missing one of my better midfielders was

Midfield: excellent (very high)
Right Defence: formidable (low)
Central Defence: brilliant (very low)
Left Defence: magnificent (low)
Right Attack: poor (high)
Central Attack: excellent (very low)
Left Attack: passable (very low)

I need to build up the attack, as I have sorted the defence out.

still playing, still in Level 6, seem to finish 2nd every season, but am slowly getting together a team that could get promoted.

Stadium is currenlty being increased from 38 to 44k, but im mainly concentrating on flag chasin at the mo, up to 60 now... starting to get hard!

My match-ratings last time out were:

Midfield: formidable (low)
Right Defence: passable (very low)
Central Defence: outstanding (low)
Left Defence: passable (high)
Right Attack: poor (very high)
Central Attack: formidable (very low)
Left Attack: weak (low)

I guess I need to get better midfielders, since I only obtained those ratings by playing my wingbacks TM. When playing them normal or defensive, I can normally get excellent / outstanding / excellent for my three across the back, which is not bad.

Forward ratings are quite low because I'm back to playing with kids in attack - other than my 25 yo world class, I've got a 19 yo outstanding (English, YP) and an 18 yo excellent. I've got a 19 yo excellent whom I'll need to flog when he pops to formid, and then 2 17 yos - one solid and one excellent (who's also English and unpredictable... not a bad combo!).

:)

Other trainees:
Exc PM/Psble Pass - 18

Exc PM/Inad Pass - 18
Exc PM/Exc Wing/Weak Pass - 18

I'm in the process of trying to upgrade my forwards so they're both English Titanics for the start of next season.

My enthusiasm for the new youth system has also been buoyed by a 5 star winger that I pulled!

Signed a 23yo titanic with passable passing and inadequate XP for £700k. Not English but I chased an English one and the price went up to £1m. The benefit of £5k per week saved wages would have taken a while to materialise!

Oh joy, my World Class striker who is listed and expires tonight has got injured. ****!

Oh and I'm losing 2-0 :(

+4 injury! Throw in a +3 for my wing back, a +3 injury that my other striker already has and a 3-1 defeat and it's not a good day!

If anyone wants a cheap English World Class striker for next season check out Gilbert Stewart!
