How many years until we get back to the EFL??

How many years in relation to what?

When I saw the poll options, I thought it referred to Macauley Bonne scoring his first goal ....

Don't normally disagree with you bud, but bit of a cheap shot, as the poll is titled "How many years until we get back to the EFL??"

Having said that, the longer it takes for Macca to open his account, the wider the door opens to invite in such criticism, it has to be said.

Didn't see that bit .....and of course, all in jest. I'm sure Macca will score soon .... hopefully before option 1.

In terms of the EFL question, I'd go with 1. But for certain we do need a 20 goal a season man to have a chance....

A large amount has been posted on here, most of which has been very dispirited, about our chances of getting out of the NL any time soon. I've gone for 1-2 years and still feel that with the right run of results this season we can still flirt with the play-offs, and, realistically, probably just fail. But that will pave the way for a good pre season next year, some first choice replacements and then we will see what the art of the possible is. Down to you Kev and Co, with the Consortium providing realistic support.

Agreed.(Also voted for 1-2 years for an EFL return),

I think this is unduly pessimistic.

Winning automatic promotion will be tough but if we get in the playoffs enough times sooner or later we’ll do it. We’ve been there or thereabouts for the playoffs the last few seasons on similar budgets but with massive head winds that should no longer hinder us. We may not reach the playoffs every season but once we do we only have to be lucky once.

I also expect to see 3 up agreed in a few years. No doubt the season after were promoted.

We’ve already seen Chesterfield, Wrexham, Notts County, Grimsby and Stockport go up. York, Forest Green, Oldham, Rochdale, Barnet and Scunthorpe will likely all be challengers in the next five years but even if we say they’re all better placed than us (which I don’t necessarily buy) that still leaves four promotion spots in four and a half years for us to fight for. Even if a Swindon or Carlisle come down it’ll likely take them several years to get their house in order.

I also expect the sustainability requirements may be relaxed if we’re contending in January. Much easier to sign off 4 months’ extra expense to try and get us across the line end of January than 24 months’ if we’re doing it in June.

TLDR I look forward to buying you a celebratory pint eventually
Bear in mind I am 66 years old !!

I want to be proven wrong more than anything, but I suspect it'll be many more years at this rate - we need at least 3-4 more truly quality additions and we are still operating under tighter conditions, I suspect, than quite a few teams in the league. Also, the persistence in playing this style of football with players of limited ability is going to stifle us - just my personal opinion.
