Question How many years?

How many years until we get back to the EFL??

    202
Went for 5+ years as its so difficult. but I hope I'm wrong. I just hope that it is the one option that wasn't on there, "in my lifetime"..............

heart says 2-4
Brain says 5-8

80% certain we need a new manager
30%-50% of the squad not capable

Nature progression to replace components therefore 5yrs IMHO.

10yrs back in league one

I don't think I will ever see League football at RH again

Sure , we will be knocking on the Playoff door on several occasions , but clearing the debts and obtaining self sufficiency is going to have an enormous impact on the Football finances , And once this is complete , the actual income being produced may well not be sufficient to pump large amounts of money into the playing side.

However, should we be fortunate with a couple of young really low budget youngsters , who really rip trees up from the outset , then we may get a lucky streak.

Its definitely an interesting thought. If we are to be totally self sustainable then arguably our budget is NL/NLS in perpetuity. Noble, and it means we will always have a club to support, but with every other team being a rich mans plaything we really would have no chance of getting anywhere.

I guess it depends how extreme COSU's idea of sustainability is.

We can say we need to up our budget, but I for one believe budget is there just not in this period, which is frustrating. They just want investment so we may get 2-3 prime players, probably on frees regardless of age when available.

FGR paid £125k for a 3rd/4th striker. We’d do that too if we saw value and ongoing potential or returns. Josh Kelly for example or Dallas.

Very difficult to say as we haven’t had a window free of restrictions to really judge how effective the recruitment can be, or what the level of financial support to be provided by COSU will be.

If we are we are a bit nearer the playoff places come the Jan window we may start to get an idea.

I think this is unduly pessimistic.

Winning automatic promotion will be tough but if we get in the playoffs enough times sooner or later we’ll do it. We’ve been there or thereabouts for the playoffs the last few seasons on similar budgets but with massive head winds that should no longer hinder us. We may not reach the playoffs every season but once we do we only have to be lucky once.

I also expect to see 3 up agreed in a few years. No doubt the season after were promoted.

We’ve already seen Chesterfield, Wrexham, Notts County, Grimsby and Stockport go up. York, Forest Green, Oldham, Rochdale, Barnet and Scunthorpe will likely all be challengers in the next five years but even if we say they’re all better placed than us (which I don’t necessarily buy) that still leaves four promotion spots in four and a half years for us to fight for. Even if a Swindon or Carlisle come down it’ll likely take them several years to get their house in order.

I also expect the sustainability requirements may be relaxed if we’re contending in January. Much easier to sign off 4 months’ extra expense to try and get us across the line end of January than 24 months’ if we’re doing it in June.

TLDR I look forward to buying you a celebratory pint eventually

I’ve gone for 1-2 years. I just feel the club is in an upward trajectory. There’s lots of off field improvements being made this season, which I think will really help with recruitment and performance next season. The building blocks are being put in place.

This season isn’t over - it amazes me that people think it is - not even half way through yet, just 5 points off the playoffs and I think everyone can see we’re an improving team of late. I’m confident we’ll strengthen in January, so if we’re within spitting distance of a play off spot then I wouldn’t bet against us. If we miss out, I think next season we’ll hit the ground running. A proper off season of transfers, a proper preseason and a calm stable environment will pay off with a promotion season.

I have voted 2-4. We will need to have at least 2 more summers of 3 great players in and 1 out (hopefully for a fee) before the whole squad is in a position to mount a challenge for the title.

If 3 up + 3 down is agreed it would give us an even greater chance imo
Is there even going to be a vote.

Would make far more sense and a rebrand as league 3

There was talk of this a few years ago. The EFL proposed to have 4x 20 team divisions instead of 3x 24 but it was completely shot down.

anything EWES can do we can do better ,we can do anything quicker than Ewes. They got outa this league a little while back so im sure we can,Only one team in ESSEX.

Two more seasons I reckon. We clearly need to strengthen our squad but we have half a dozen good players who I hope will stay with us. It's a shame that we haven't performed better this season because the NL now is the weakest we have been involved with.

There is still a long way to go and we may earn a play off place by the end of this season. If we do get promoted we might well come straight back down again because I doubt that we will have the money to compete in League 2 until a couple more years pass.

This is our level now sadly. Without investment in the squad and a top quality youth system to find a few gems I sadly think we will see out the rest of the 2020s in NL. The two up situation also plays a factor too. Maybe if it was 3/4 for promotion then I would say it would be over 2/3 years instead of my over 5 years choice.
