Question How many years?

How many years until we get back to the EFL??

I think probably 3-4 years, but fear it will be longer. I don't think it will be with the current management team either. I reckon they will be off if they don't get the financial backing or poached by a more ambitious club.
I’m really curious on this. If this management team can’t get us out the National League next season after an extended period of stability then it says they don’t get results. Most would add we don’t play attractive brand of football either. So who do you think would be looking to poach them?

I’d be interested to see data on how playing budgets and final league positions in the NL relate to eachother. I suspect there is a very close correlation.

As such, I do feel we need to get closer to the top 3 financially to give us the best chance of escaping the division the right way. The top 3 currently, are the biggest spenders In the division I believe. It’s no coincidence. Then of course you have Wrexham, Stockport and Notts previously.

Somehow COSU need to reduce our outgoings, increase income and give Kev a budget to work with that reflects a club of our size and attendances.

Until we get closer to the others, I do fear we will remain here for a while. But I do understand the need to be careful and a little cautious financially. It’s a fine line. But one eventually I think will need to be stretched if we want to return to the EFL.

There will always be several teams splashing the cash each season. We don’t need to be the biggest spenders, but we need to be up there and ensure our recruitment is better than the others. Our size will help sway targets, but ultimately money does talk. Unfortunately, the NL will only get tougher to get out of each season as more money men fancy trying to do a Wrexham. Along with more established EFL sides coming down. Sigh.

COSU are riding the crest of a wave right now. But that wave and support will soon crash should things not improve massively on the pitch in the next 12 months. Stating the obvious here. But, they need to capitalise as soon as they are able. Before a few years stay becomes a decade.

like it to be through the playoffs this year ,but if not definitely next year , but alas the heart says not in my life time so i voted 2-4 years .

Clubs like Wrexham and Stockport show how difficult it can be to get back into FL. As a side note I just looked at Stockport’s wiki. Over 50 registered players? What utter nonsense is that?

It doesn't seem that long ago we were discussing this. It's going to be four years already... Time flies when you're having fun. I pointed out at the time how long it had taken teams like Barrow or Accrington to get back and that Bradford Park Avenue and Workington never had.

Who knows, really? It could have happened last year had it not been for a certain gentleman and our points deduction. It's impossible to predict with so many factors affecting it. We've had enough misery in recent times. So I'm going for some blind optimism and saying this year or next.

They have experience in managing a club through desperate circumstances, so I reckon a club that has funds who may be struggling. Clubs like Swindon or Tranmere etc.

Please don't shoot! But I do not think we are that far off having a squad to challenge AND if not for the Cards and OK losses would be right in the mix this season; especially if we had added Ollie Pearce and a couple of the other 1st choice targets that were (reportedly) lined up.
Next season? sort who we are keeping, sign those we have prospected for, & with the new training facility up and running, a proper pre season: AND why not?

#shootingISneeded.

2-4 seems sensible. Get our house in order. Prepare properly for the season and build a strong team and squad. This however does not guarantee promotion from this league while there is only one automatic promotion spot.

After this season a fair expectation is that we should always be in the top 7. Sooner or later, it will fall into place for us.

For now, I'll try and enjoy the ride.

5+

The consortium's priority seems to be get the club able to hold it's own financially and on field issues come secondary which I fully understand

Any gems we find in that period will be sold for the money they can bring in so I expect to be in this league till 2030 at least

we'll be playing on the moon by then surely

The greatest day for me is when I can stop buying the Non League Paper and start buying the Football League Paper again!

I have voted 2-4. We will need to have at least 2 more summers of 3 great players in and 1 out (hopefully for a fee) before the whole squad is in a position to mount a challenge for the title.

If 3 up + 3 down is agreed it would give us an even greater chance imo
