Thing is pubey Swindon have a game in hand on us. Maybe two but certainly at least one. For me likelyhood is should they win that game they'll go above us and if they do think they'll stay above us.

We are top of the league and have been up there or there abouts all season.

Sturrock has never had any of his teams playing fancy football, if hoof ball is what is going to see this club back in league 1 then who cares.

The thing is over the course of the season everyone has moaned about something, we went on a unbeaten run people moaned, we have lost games but still been in the top 3 people moan.

Why cant people be happy with what PS has done so far, the plan was to get the club promotion who cares how it's done!!!

Regardless of our style of paly this has been one of our better sides over the last few seasons, there is competition for places, players afraid of being dropped and as a result of our season we have received recognition and had 1 game on sky and 1 on the way.

It doesn't have to be pretty but if we stay in the top 3 then come the end of the season all of the doubters posting on here will be singing the praises of the team

Were Southend United were top of the league

Arsenals end of season party is just starting at the Emirates this evening ... thankfully we still have something to go for

I look forward to going because its a chance to catch up with people i've known for years and years but i do tend to find the 90 minutes gets in the way of a good catch up for the most part

I agree Dan. I went through a stage of moaning about the style but we are where we are which is great. I dread to think what people would say if were languishing in mid table obscurity.

You are all hilarious!

We are top!

We have added another win to the tally!

Maybe we should start playing wonderfully crafted football and get smashed off the park every week because that's what would happen!

It's league 2 chaps! The players smash the **** out of eachother!

You've got to be physical! And again we had more possession than the opposition!

Good squad, excellent manager, good tactics that get you promoted and win football matches in the lower league!

The negativity is hilarious!

Sometimes I am told to open my eyes but infact it is some of you that must! If you don't like it go and watch sky and watch real madrid and barca and man city!

Have you forgotten we are Southend United! We are a league 2 team! Usually entertainment is at a very very very low level! Some of you have been going 4 times the amount of years I have! ;) But you still forget we are a lower league team!

Save the ****ing pretty football for MOTD after we've battled another team off the park and adding to our points tally ready for promotion! Thats when I kick back and watch footballing wizards of the world! Who are on millions of pounds!

How many wonderful footballing players have we actually had in our history!?

Do you suddenly expect to sign unbelievable football players!?

How can you still moan?

Honestly confused!

Top of the league, get in there!
Up the blues!

This kind of response to the 'football' we are playing is really starting to wind me up now. Yes, we all know we're not Barcelona or Man city or whoever else you care to mention. We're Southend United. We don't like the long ball...never have, and our fans won't put up with it for any length of time...hence why we have nearly always tried to play a little bit of football down the years. All you need to know about what people sitting in the stands today thought of the game (especially the first half) was the near silence.
I've posted something very similar in another thread a few days back so apologies, but I can't see how anyone can mind paying to watch that, regardless of league position?? I know I can't justify spending a small fortune on something that now causes more misery for me than enjoyment.
I just hope that Luggy CAN mix up the style a little if we do get promotion 'cause I don't want to watch the game being played that way.

Not been much since xmas, there have been some awful games, all the away games I have been to have been decent though.

Can't help but think that we would be a tad more exciting when Hall and Martin are both in the first 11.

Since when was the point of going to football to be entertained? I thought it was about supporting your club.

We don't play any worse football than at least half of this division does and I don't think we're significantly worse than we were pre-Tilly. Yes we played some great stuff at times under Tilly but we also had our fair share of **** games when we couldn't string two passes together.

I seem to remember a fair few people on here bemoaning the departure of Garry Richards because they felt that we could do with defenders who look to hoof the ball clear instead of playing it into trouble.

Its probably been mentioned elsewhere but the only time we tried to get the ball down and pass today led to the free kick and the winning goal

'nuff said

Beefy your opening paragraph. " You're there to support your club ". Spot on.

Watching the blues play this season is a bit like eating a "Prawn Curry". You sit down salivating at the thought of It but then find it empty of any real substance which leaves you deflated and void of any real meagre offerings.

I like this. After a few beers you always go back for another one. In the morning you belly aches and you say never again.
But you always go back. Working today so listened on the radio. hoooof

Poll - Do we have the worst fans in the world this season?

The league two play off winning season was just as bad if not worse. What is different is the inability of people to get over tilson leaving and their hatred for our chairman. The relegation from league one season was absolutely appalling. Some people need to move on and support the team. Away performances have been much more entertaining this season because our players don't have to put up with their own fans booing them when we're top. I missed my first home game today as I'm on holiday so I can't comment on today's performance but I can honestly say that I look forward to every game and have been suitably entertained. Try not arriving at every game with a negative attitude. Trust me you'll find the experience much more satisfying.

The ultimate guide to entertainment is where you are in the League. We're top so that entertains me greatly.

Following on from that I'd understand the anger if we were mid table, in the bottom half, or even dropping alarmingly of the pace. But as I said we're top 3 and thats what ultimately matters.

A bit extreme, but to play devils advocate - if we played this EXACT way for the next 3 seasons and ended up in the Premier League, who would mind?...

Nowhere does it state by anyone who feels they are not entertained that they are not supporting the team ?

Yes. Hello...some clarity. I DID support the team today....I NEVER boo our players...I NEVER swear at our players (or the opposition for that matter) but am I being entertained at the moment? No I'm not.

correct sir, my slight issue is how we can be top of the league, in with a shout of winning the league and still a big whiff of negativity in the air, puzzling more the word i would use mate. Just to add if entertainment was a key reason for going to the hall i would have packed it all in around 1984/85ish, i will be the first to say we win ugly but we do win a heck of a lot of games which i like a lot
