Home kit 2023/24 - New Shirts Revealed

Let me introduce myself first: I'm the guy who was commissioned to design the shirts.

As @GIBBO might have told you already, we went through several options each with a theme of their own. I'll share some of them once the full kits have been released - my personal favourite was sadly not even considered as it was seen as "the wrong blue" from higher up - yes, probably *him*. It was still dark blue, but not the standard navy.

Also, the kits were substantially tweaked by the people at Macron - my designs were a little too high end apparently. Or so I was told. I think you'd have liked them more, or even more, if they were more in line with what I had in my head. Again, I'll show more once you folks have seen the full kit.

Too high end for Southend?

Who the hell are these people?

Can you please ask them why they insists on using slim fit designs on larger sizes. Nobody who buys a 3,4,5XL want's a slim fit shirt.

Well apparently there were limits in what they were capable of doing within the timing constraints that were there. If the kits were approved a bit earlier - I don't know why they took longer to approve - we would apparently be able to do more.

As far as the sizing goes, I've no idea what's going on there. Probably a business decision from Macron.

Thanks, I can't understand it personally as all it is doing is loosing themselves money. A 5XL is a 50inch chest whereas a 4XL for the new Adidas kits is a 62inch chest.

I will once the full shirts are shown to the public so folks know what to compare them to ;-)
For example, red trim was also toyed with before we decided to bring yellow back. One of the very early prototypes, that won't be shown because it didn't make it past the brainstorming stage, had teal as the third colour. There was even one that had no white on it!

You should have gone high and dry end

I've never understood why sizes vary so much in this modern age. If it's made in Pakistan or China, you have to go two sizes up. Why? Why can't the t shirt firm and the foreign manufacturers stick to the given UK sizes? For example an XL should be a UK XL. That's what's advertised on the label. In the old days you knew what size you were and you were fairly confident it would fit most of the time. Now you have to try on a couple of sizes in the shop, or go through the order online scenario where most times it won't fit.
It's really not rocket science, they are a European firm so go by EU sizing, size smaller than UK sizing as per this page...

Indeed @THE SEVENTIES NORTH BANK fings ain't wot they used to be.
For the protest on Saturday I managed to fit "reasonably comfortably" into my 32 year old L yellow Beaver 1991/92 season shirt despite having added "quite a few" pounds & it not having Lycra!! 🤣🤣

Typing this I realised that my shirt is actually half my age!! 🤪

Wrong.

Macron sizes actually come up small

I'm a 44 inch chest and in most brands, I'm a Large and sometimes an XL
So based on your logic, I will be a 2XL in Macron but if you actually check the chest size, I'm apparently a 3XL

Macron is very confusing and as I'm yet to own a Macron Southend kit, I'm going to need to either try it on or gamble
