Just had a quick chat with insolvency lawyer at work, it is possible that tomorrows hearing has been vacated if we have paid HMRC in full, we will find out when the court listings come out this afternoon, as its all been a bit last minute its possible there hasn't been time to vacate it in which case an order to vacate my be bought before the court tomorrow or if vacation proceedings haven't been done, the case will be dismissed IF we have paid HMRC in full or paid enough for them to leave us alone for the time being, he also suggested it sounds like HMRC have been paid seeing as the players have been paid, as if they hadn't we could be in trouble for trading to the detriment of HMRC by paying the players before paying HMRC

I agree with this. Any company gathers in money for HMRC in terms of VAT & PAYE contributions, and then passes it on to HMRC at the appropriate times. Its never the company's money in the first place, to spend on anything else. The moment you sell something that includes VAT, the VAT element belongs to HMRC. You're just holding it for them. So by default, if you pay any debts whatsoever before paying any overdue tax to HMRC, you are effectively borrowing their money without permission to do so. HMRC takes a very dim view of that.

So I would agree it would imply the tax man has been given at least some money, but we are living in Ron-world so nothing is that simple..

It’s a start I suppose.

But over the next couple of days we need to see as a minimum:

1. Confirmation of the outstanding tax bill settled in full and petition dismissed.

2. Office staff paid back to November.

3. All staff and players paid for February (due Wednesday)

4. An apology from Ron. Not Tom. Ron.

We should set up a game of bingo for his next "statement" (be it this week / next month / next year) and see how many other different factors he can blame apart from himself!

😒

With what appear to be encouraging rumours coming out, I think we can turn our attention to the club statement on the matter. Here are my 10 predictions...

1. It will be late.
2. It will be written by RM, regardless of whose name is against it.
3. It will mention COVID, as if it was an epidemic affecting only south-east Essex.
4. It will mention successive relegations, as if these happen by chance and we were just unfortunate.
5. There will be a general patronising undercurrent throughout, as if none of us understand how difficult it all is, and everything would be much more straightforward if we just trusted him and stopped asking awkward questions.
6. It will state how much he cares for the club, more so than any of us do.
7. It will state how much money he has put in to the club to keep it afloat, and if he hadn't we wouldn't even now have a club.
8. He will refer to late payment of wages as 'regrettable'.
9. Right near the end there will be something almost alluding to an apology, but not quite.
10. As a parting shot, and just when you think he may have learnt his lesson, he will try and lay the blame elsewhere.

I reckon I'm good for 8 of the above - will check back in once it arrives.

11. The "future is bright"
12. Fossetts Farm blah blah blah
13. "Group company support"
14. Fans & Club doing the "waltz" together, or something equally cringe.
15. Temporary cashflow issue.

Please add any more for Ronnie Bingo....

Can you imagine if it just said:

"Dear Blues' Fans, Players, Staff and Suppliers,

From the deepest crevice of my heart, I am sorry

Ron Martin"...

Unfortunately, we'll have to imagine, because I doubt very much there be anything close to that...

We listed for Court 1 tomorrow, we are 5th on the list as its stands with proceedings for the day kicking off at 1030 Infront of Judge Barber, anyone know if this is the same one as last time??
