The 14-day thing is difficult too. The club has a right to appeal, which delays it by another 14 days. And then it can go to a hearing. So it's not quite as simple as them saying "if you don't pay me in 14 days, I'm off". Unfortunately they don't get the PFA representation either which probably won't help them.

I'd suggest there is some posturing going on by players and agents to apply pressure. Some will have been advised to try serving the 14 days' notice and some will have been advised against it, I'm sure. No right or wrong approach for any of them.

Medway you tend to have better insight on these things than many- where is this “14 day rule”?- doesn’t seem to exist anywhere in the league rules and if the National League don’t follow the standardised FIFA rules on this you would expect it to be in the league rules somewhere ?

I believe it's actually 15 days rather than 14 (not sure where 14 has come from), but it's Article 14 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, aka the "Just Cause" clause.

"In the case of a club unlawfully failing to pay a player at least two monthly salaries on their due dates, the player will be deemed to have a just cause to terminate his contract, provided that he has put the debtor club in default in writing and has granted a deadline of at least 15 days for the debtor club to fully comply with its financial obligation(s)."

SUFC has definitely failed to pay players their monthly salaries on their due dates at least twice this season, even if this hasn't happened in consecutive months (yet).

I see the Echo fails to mention the fans outside Ron's House. Feel sorry for his wife, grand kids etc who may have to deal with this group.

Do all the protesting you want outside the ground but leave his family alone

Suppose you’d be so much happier when we don’t have a football club to support.

Wake up

Would Cav be one of the four, guess so. Some said he spent longer than usual over the west stand and standing on his own at one point and taking applause etc. would be gutted if he left, he epitomises everything good about this team

Make Ron’s life as miserable as possible going to his house is the way of doing that you say about his family!!!! What about mine and all the Southend family he is ruining our lives!!!!…. You never know Ron’s wife might have a word!!!
Depends if you want to lower yourself to Rons level. I personally won't do that but fully support protests outside the ground

Ron has too much at stake to sell or let the club go under. The new houses that Ron allegedly will make his money from have a caveat that the new stadium gets built. No stadium, no houses, no profit for Ron.

Thank you exactly what I believed. And yes they have to miss payment for equivalent of two months. Then from second missed payment Club have 15 days to remedy (mid March)
And if the club remedies in that period then they remain under contract.

If its 2 consecutive payments then nobody will be able to try and terminate their contract yet.

The wording posted earlier was just 2 months late, didn't mention consecutive, in which case giving 15 days notice could be done at anytime from 1 Feb.

Yep, this is how I understand it. There is nothing in the regulation that specifies the late payments must be in consecutive months, and players were paid late earlier in the season.

Good point. Although in the unlikely event the club collapses i think the council would allow the houses without a stadium.
