Morris -7 definately lacking for their goal but other than than looked steady. took a couple of high balls through a crowd with confidence

Clohessy - 7.5 solid
Gilbert- 7 steady
Bilel -8 was wrongly criticised for goals last week and today looked much more assured. still scares the hell out of me though
Barker - 8 stalwart

Simpson - 7 good performance always looked dangerous
Grant 7 typical granty performance but not quite up to his previous weeks performances and picked up a fifth yellow
Hall - 7 lively and dangerous but impotent
Timlin -7.5 much steadier than last week and scored a peach of a free kick

Corr 8 has four goals in four starts is it? Cant complain about a guy who wins everything in the air, just needs someone next to him to provide diversion
Sturrock - 7 we all know he works like a trojan and holds the ball well but he needs to stop throwing himself on the ground claiming free kicks and of course, the goal was a bit lucky but after that, he looked more confident and even had a shot from 25 yards!!!!

Jarvis 6 ran around and got into a bit of a scuffle with their centre half but really didnt have enough time to impress
Prosser 6 came on and did a job up front late on
Soares 6 almost anonymous as a late sub but did nothing wrong either

A deserved victory and always nice to come from behind and win. We didn't need to be great to win and we weren't, but we did enough against a very poor side for whom relegation from this league seems a real possibility.

We could arguably have won by more and they posed very little threat leaving Morris with little more to do than make a meal of their goal. Grant was superb again and was very unlucky to get booked for getting headbutted. Timlin's freekick was superb and he and Grant are starting to look like more of a unit; both able to pick a pass. Thought Clohessy was very solid, getting his foot and emerging with the ball on a number of occasions. Barker solid and Moshni won plenty in the air and put in some big tackles, though there were a couple of dodgy headers back to Morris which left him flailing; one of which led to a corner. Agree that Simpson is somewhat wasted on the wing and doesn't offer much out there, but still did a good job. Thought Hall was a bit quiet but chased hard and took players on. Nice to see both strikers on the scoresheet. Great header from Corr. Sturrock made hard work of his goal, but he deserved it. Neither sub had much of an impact, though Jarvis looked lively.

Morris - 5.5

Clohessy - 7.5
Barker - 7
Bilel - 6.5
Glibert - 6.5

Hall - 6
Grant - 7
Timlin - 7
Simpson - 6

Sturrock - 6.5
Corr - 6.5

What a long but enjoyable trip that was.....

Starting with the Sturrock goal, yes it was very lucky. It was similar to the chance he had at Morecambe whereby he was through and froze again. Only this time he went to shoot and ball tripped over the ball, the keeper came sliding out and ricocheted the ball in off his shin. I'm sorry, irrespective of who his father is, he really does fail to impress me as a striker! The attributes he has, and the play he sometimes excels in are all those that should be attributed to a midfielder. If he has to play, then in a deeper position with someone with an element of potency and who doesn't appear to be afraid of the oppositions goal as the striker.

Was quite pleased with what I saw, Grant was Grant, 3-1 up, with 90 minutes gone and he was still chasing and harrying the opposition in the middle of the park. Simpson looks a good player, but agree he is wasted out wide. Timlin again impressed and threw in a cracking free kick today as well.

Liked the look of the little we saw of Jarvis today, very quick and lively and could compliment the on form Corr as well.

Much improved on Saturday, but would of been harder to lose to this lot today, however, you can only beat what's in front of you and we did it quite well in the end. Roll on Tuesday and the Gills!!

Ahem.4 goals in 7 games actually.;)

Watched the goals on BBC last night and Corr took his headed goal well, a good pin-point cross from young Mr Sturrock. Timlin's was a very good shot from about 25 yards from a simple 3 yard sideways pass from a free kick. Sturrock's goal looked messy, but they all count, when he was through on goal, shot and hit the keeper at close range and the ball rebounded to him and he managed to get it into the net and yes, he did look embarrassed in the celebrations.

Fantastic day out. Lovely town and found (eventually) a lovely pub that brewd it's own ale. Sloppy goal for them but once we got the idea we can play football we didn't look back. Morris had hardly much to do for the rest of the game and was covered well by the defence. Moshi was "Good Moshi" and won nearly everything and when he didn't tracked back to good effect.
Wonderful build up play with a sprayed out ball to the right flank and a peach of a cross to find Cor to settle our nerves.
Timlin freekick was cool but was it really not taken the first time? Great strike though, then! for Blair got thru the off side trap and even though he tried his best to fall over squeezed the ball passed the standed goalie and defender. Good goal actually.
TravelZone Coach danced its way back home to Essex and was back home just before 9.

Oh my God! I've missed League 2 and great banter with the Hereford lads behind the goal in the condemned stand, I think though that the council may know Herefords fate by condeming the stand we used to be housed in. Lets home they stay with us as they are a wonderful club in a delightful area. Could see why they havent beat us since 1986 though.

Commentators on BBC were going on about whether Simpson touched the ball, saw it on the FL show and Simpson definately touched the ball and the Hereford players were telling the ref exactly that. Whixh shows that players don't know the laws of the game as to be in play the ball should have travelled its circumference (about 28 inches I think).
The ref was spot on the ball had not moved so the Hereford defender should not have played it

...... which in turn shows that some fans don't know the Laws of the Game.

The requirement for the ball to travel its circumference was scrapped a while ago. It simply has to be kicked and to have moved (just a millimetre will count).

That was what I thought so why did the ref do what he did then? A complete loss of memory or what?

So that's now 2 goals and both of them "shinned" in then ;)
Cue thousands of "they all count no matter how they go in" comments...

One of the greatest goals scored in recent years was Van Persies volley.

Shinned in

That goal is exactly the same as Sturrocks on so many levels. Well two. Shin. Goal. :)

I do love how people ignore a strikers role includes holding the ball up, creating chances, building up attacks and say a strikers job is just to score. When Sturrock does and also creates a goal he still doesnt get credit. In fairness any ball in the back of the net does count, it would have been nice to see him finish with more confidence in the first place but lets hope this boosts confidence.

Surely the marks should be attributed to a player's performance on the day? How does Sturrock Jnr (crucial assist and killer, albeit fortuitous, goal) get the lowest score compared with Morris (could have cost us the match) if the strikers hadn't performed?

Indeed, if he can create one goal and score one and only get a 6 and be classed as our worst performer you have to wonder what he has to do to get a 7 or an 8.

For some small minded people on here he would have to divorce his Dad and change his name.
