Modern day football is fine if you aren't watching Southend, it's our football that makes it boring.

33% of matches last season saw 4 or more goals in them. You wouldn't know that watching us because only 13% of Southend matches had 4 or more goals, the lowest of any side in the league.

On current evidence I can’t see any justification whatsoever for playing Gubbins LCB and Ralph LWB over Ralph LCB and Bridge LWB.

Agreed Ralph just isn't a wing back in any form.

Baffling! Why move two of our best players that fit those positions to squeeze Gubbins in. We didn’t squeeze Lopata in when we got him back he waited his time and got the opportunity when Lomas got injured. Think he should be benched and wait until his time comes.

He looks awful and completely out of position on Saturday and sounds like he’s hardly setting the world alight again today.

I'm hoping it's an attempt to keep the entire last season used tactic of "find Bridge on the left no matter what" fresh and effective

Seems a failed experiment so far, i did assume gubbins was cover for our already excellent defence, not a nailed on starter.
