It’s time to talk about matters on the pitch again as the first team squad will make the short journey east of the training ground on Saturday afternoon to Burroughs Park, home of last season’s beaten FA Vase finalists, Great Wakering Rovers who ply their trade in the Essex Senior League, 4 levels below the Blues.
Undoubtedly Kev will say that games like this are primarily about fitness however sometimes they can uncover a promising trialist (who can forget Ryan Leonard’s trial game at GWR?) and are an opportunity for fans to cast their “expert” eyes on any new signings.
The squad are currently down to just one professional goalkeeper, so we may well see a trialist or youth keeper on display. With the permanent signing of Joe Gubbins there are plenty of options in defence for Kev to switch things around.
The midfield is looking a little light in numbers with the rumoured departure of Wes Fonguck and Noor Husin still recovering from his operation, so again perhaps there are opportunities for a trialist or youth team player to impress.
New signing Josh Walker will I’m sure want to make his mark early up front and it will be interesting to see what combinations of strikers are tried out.
For those wishing to attend, payment shpild be made at the turnstiles on the day. There are no tickets available beforehand.
Adults £10
Concessions £6
Kids 12-16 £2
Under 12 £1
If you’re free, get yourself down there to cheer on Kev and the boys in (hopefully) the first game of the new era.
If you have any thoughts on starting line ups, tip offs about potential trialists etc. this is the thread to share your thoughts.
