Saw Bob Dylan's Rough and Rowdy Ways tour at Barna's Gran Teatro del LIceu (Opera House) last night.Absolutely stunning concert.I'm afraid those who wanted to hear Dylan singing Blowing In the Wind* have rather missed the boat however. He did do quite a few old favourites though including Watching the River Flow,Most Likely you go your Way (and I'll go Mine) a playful I'll be your Baby Tonight and a stunning When I Paint my Masterpiece with a great Cand W band. +Gotta Serve Somebody (withouth the religous choruses, thank God. :Winking: .As befits the name of the tour most of the tracks came from the RARW album apart from a wonderful rockabilly version of Buddy Holly's True Love Ways.

*Last heard him play this at Blackbushe in 1978.Done reggae style!Dylan's songbook keeps getting up.dated. Have to admit I rather missed hearing All Along the Watchtower which I 've heard him indroduce as "a Jimi Hendrix song" but c'est la vie I suppose.
I hope that he sang using the Holly "hic".

My son played his first ‘real’ gig at the Leigh Folk Festival today. He’s only 17 and was quite nervous, but played 6 songs (3 of which he wrote himself) and got a huge round of applause and had people coming up to him afterwards saying they really enjoyed it.

So proud 🤩
And was probably better than most of the sad old duffers clogging up the stages at Glastonbury too. Good on him.

My thoughts exactly with some of the bands I go to see. I have a friend who used to go to see The Fall and Motorhead whenever they played in London because he knew that tour could be the last.

I do pretty much the same with Hawkwind and would definitely go to see King Crimson if they tour in the UK again. I was so glad I caught Jeff Beck on his last tour before his sad passing earlier in the year. I saw Roger Waters' final show of his final tour last Saturday and last year The Damned on their original line up tour.

My advice is if you can afford it go because they won't be around forever!

Totally agree.
I had tickets to prodigy a couple of years ago, but my wife reminded me that it was taking her with friends to see Boy George

I sold my tickets to a guy who worked for me who took his dad. He reported ( as did the press) that they were brilliant, boy George was crap.

A few months later Keith flint committed suicide 😰

We are now going in November, but I am guessing it won’t be the same

We also saw GnR at the London stadium 6 years ago, my son saw them at Glastonbury on Saturday and we saw them on the tv and they were (being polite) not very good. There comes a time when the lead singer can’t do it anymore

Yes, I saw Peter Gabriel last weekend. At 75 years of age, I suspect he will probably not tour again.

Let us know how the Prodigy gig went later in the year.

Peter Gabriel

Here are some photos from my latest trip to the AO Arena in Manchester to see Peter Gabriel in what may prove to be his final ever UK concert.

I was never a fan of Genesis, but have I have always enjoyed his solo output especially his first album and the classics Solsbury Hill and Here Comes The Flood. Although I do prefer the stripped down version of HCTF on Fripp's God Save The Queen/Under Heavy Manners album.

I quite liked the film of a person painting the time on a clock, wiping it off and repainting the new time as we counted down to the start at 8:05pm and first two semi acoustic numbers round a campfire before the show jumped into life in full. For the first half of the concert the songs were taken from has later albums. The sound was great and the visuals were superb. Gabriel either played his keyboards and sung or moved out front taking centre stage. The first half was closed with Sledgehammer, much to the delight to everyone!

The second set contained three more songs from the So album before he finished on the inevitable Solsbury Hill. The encore comprised of an extended version In Your Eyes before finishing on Biko. I really liked Biko and had forgotten what a powerful song it was, both musically and the message that is still relevant today. As the song came to its conclusion, the musicians slowly left the stage just leaving the drummer to pound out the rhythm until the end. A fitting end to the show, and as good as the song is on vinyl, it is electrifying live!

Interestingly ,although he's currently on tour in Europe,Barna didt'n feature as one of the venues though i saw his last gig here back in 2010 which i thought was quite well attended ,though El Periodico tells its readers that the Palau Sant Jordi was less than half full.Certainly not my memory.-
