The punches thrown vs punches landed percentages might help here.
Obviously my theory is pure speculation. I'm just trying to understand how they came to an 8-4. So any suggestions are most welcome. Yours is a good one. Every boxing expert giving their opinion after the fight last night and this morning has said it was close. Some are saying it was all on the last round, which Usyk won. Two even said Fury was 1 round ahead going into the last round. So they made it a draw. No one up til now, has said the 8-4 score was right. I'm just trying to make sense of that score.

Usyk has that for me. I've not scored it round by round - but I felt usyk did more over the 12 rounds and landed more
Did he? Because I didn’t see that, alot of his shots missed or hit his gloves.

There is absolutely no sense in those scorecards. It was never that wide, it was close and you could have arguments for Fury close, Draw or Usyk close but not 8-4.

Boxing is and has always been corrupt. They’ve talked about the possibility of AI judging. It might be worth looking more into that because some of the judges are awful! Especially the some from the BBBoC. Steve Gray, Howard Foster, Terry O’Connor and even Bob Williams are all ****ing dreadful!

The problem is unlike UFC there is no set out scoring criteria so often it could be down to what the judge likes. There needs to be a standardised scoring criteria throughout but that won’t happen when you have so many different governing bodies.

No I don’t think he is the same person at the moment. Do I think he could get back to that standard on the night of the fight? Maybe and hopefully. My only concern with him is Ben Davidson, although he has done wonders with his fitness and dropping that weight he hasn’t got the boxing experience of brain to help push him ahead. I know he’s training a lot in Ricky Hatton’s gym and I’d like to see him take more of an active role in his training in the build up to the Wilder fight.

In answer to you Tom, if Wilder can send King Kong to the floor then no one is safe. If he connects with any heavyweight it’s goodnight Vienna! Fury has been down before I remember Steve Cunningham putting him down. But it’s whether he has the ability to keep him down which Cunningham didn’t. Wilder is a big hitter and to destroy Ortiz like he did shows he carries serious power. He is the most dangerous puncher in the heavyweight division.

I’m still putting money on Usyk to reign supreme when he comes into the heavyweight division. He moves like a middleweight! He will make Bellew you look silly.
August 20th 2018, wish I’d put my money on it 🤣🤣

Electric fight between Eubank and Benn, one for the ages.

Pure scrap rather than pure boxing, but excellent
Not high level boxing but great entertainment! You could tell both really wanted it! Eubanks face was badly swollen after that. Both can take a lot of credit from the fight.

Ricky Hatton is making another comeback, at the age of 46. Dear oh dear. He will be fighting United Arab Emirates fighter Eisa Al Dah, who has only had 11 fights, but is also 46.

He can’t let it go. Hasn’t been able to since the Pac-Man loss all those years ago. The trouble with him is, he gets in the gym and works the pads, does a bit of sparring, and convinces himself he’s still got one good run left in him.

Shame to see this now, tbh. I travelled over 20,000 miles across the world watching Hatton fight in his prime & he’ll always remain my favourite, but I wish he could get his head right & just enjoy his retirement.

I would have loved to have followed him over to the states and seen him fight Mayweather. Just a shame the ref made it so hard for him that night. He was well beaten in the end.

I was lucky enough to watch Hatton fight twice in Vegas (Mayweather and Paulie). Imagine your greatest away day, but on a much larger & longer scale.

Had a great chat with Buddy McGirt prior to the Paulie fight. He was Malignaggi’s trainer at the time, we spoke about how we thought the fight would go, before speaking about a former fighter of his, another of my favourites, Arturo Gatti.

After that fight, I spent an hour at the Zuri bar inside MGM, with a drunk and bitter Billy Graham. That was very insightful.

Mayweather brings a nasty fanbase. All the Herbert’s from LA venture into the desert (or used to, at least). The aftermath of that fight was pure chaos. Still to this day one of my funniest memories was seeing the stereotypical LA gangsters (think Bloods and Crips) fighting English football hooligans. Fortunately no guns were drawn.

Plenty of stories that I can’t go into on a family forum 😂😂

Gatti was a great fighter! I never saw him fight live but I've seen loads of videos, the fights with Ward were unreal! You very rarely see fights like that nowadays.

I was out in Vegas for my honeymoon when Mayweather fought Canelo and I was trying to get tickets, sadly for my and my mrs it would have cost us almost $2000 so I couldn't do it and the crowd that both those fighters brought in wasn't the best. Gangs everywhere. First and only time in Vegas I've felt I needed to watch my back a little. I still regret not pushing the boat out and going to the fight though!

Yeah I can imagine the crowd for that one 😂 They tend to bring their local feuds with them, which always carries the danger of innocent bystanders being drawn into it.

Best way to get fight tickets in Vegas is to become friendly with a club promoter - either by social media or in person. They’re normally hard to take (very loud, brash and full of themselves) but they’ll trip over themselves to earn their money.

We met one prior to the Malignaggi fight. He managed to get the four of us ringside tickets (I sat closer to the ring than David Beckham as well as Liam & Noel Gallagher who actually carried the belts out for Hatton that night 😂).

Those tickets were “free”, but in exchange for them, we had to drop $2000 (tip not included) on a private table and bottle service in a club called Tabu, the night before the fight. Money well spent.

I’ve used a promoter for my last few visits when I’ve been to Vegas Golden Knights matches too. He always gets me VIP tickets in a private lounge with table service. Normally runs about $200-$250 per person, depending on what game it is.
