Irrational Man. Woody Allen's latest, very Dostoevsky, and Joaquin Phoenix reminded me a bit of Jack Kerouac. 7.5/10

Funny,I thought his performance was very much modelled on the young Brando rather than Kerouac.

You're quite right about the obvious Dostoyevsky "Crime and Punishment" references though.

Room. Very good idea, felt the second half of the movie lost it's way a bit and the kid recovered too easily. 7.5/10

I think that's the idea. The kid does, whilst the mum struggles.

Amarcord Fellini's satirical 1973 homage to his childhood in provincial Italy under fascist rule. Utterly wonderful, and one of the most visually sublime pieces of cinema I've ever seen. 9/10

I dont think the kid recovered well at all - but I blubbed when the dog came along. Such a good film.

Zootropolis - Disney's new CGI offering. Good plot, very funny, a few jokes just for the adults. The kids (8 and 10) loved it. 8/10

Creed - excellent until the final fight, where it descends into Hollywood cheese. 7/10

It's a Rocky film what did you expect! I thought the final fight was alright the real cheese moment for me was Adonis running with the bikers, that really made me cringe. Good film though and I've heard they are going all godfather 2 in the next one with stories of Adonis and Apollo starting out running along side each other

Oh indeed. It was totally grounded and utterly realistic....then.....CHEESE!

Operation Daybreak , true story about the guys who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich , a remake is coming out this summer called Anthropiod , some of the Czech papers are saying it will be bigger than Titanic .
