Films you've watched recently.

Have now finished that box set but found a real unexpected gem that I had never heard of. PRIVATE INFORMATION (1952》 is about local government corruption involving a council house estate built with dodgy materials, faulty drainage etc by cowboy builders and council officials getting backhanders. A tenant exposes this and a typhoid epidemic breaks out as a result. Very unusual for a British b film to explore such themes, all wrapped up in 65 minutes. All very middle class characters of course and some twee dialogue but still a minor masterpiece in my opinion.

Just watched that, were the sub standard houses built by Martin Dawn by any chance? :Winking:

Blues Exile and Big Dady.........Have you seen this? (I love it)
Yes, it's top class early kitchen sink drama. Ted Willis screenplay, director J Lee Thompson and a fine cast. Made in 1957 and pre dates the so called British 'new wave'. Obviously superior to most of the B films I've been watching lately!

The bombardment on Netflix tells of a RAF bombing raid on Gestapo head quarters in Copenhagen during WW2.

Unfortunately some of the fighter bombers accidentally hit a school full of children with the tragic loss of life off about 30-50 children.
Very good watchable film, very moving and told me something i didn't know about this bombing raid as its quite a well told story..

"The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and others cited it as a book/film that should be avoided entirely, and recommendations were made that true accounts, and works from Jewish authors should be prioritised."

That's good enough for me.
Do you remember the TV series called All our Yesterdays. I seem to remember it being on at about 6.30 when I was about 10. Really graphic newsreel of the war and the liberation of the concentration camps. Probably should be rerun.
