Is it as good as the 1939 original?
The Original was 1930 and then there was a remake in 1979…. With Donald Pleasence amongst others. Which is strange because in WW2 he was in a stalag Luft 111 and had to escape via a tunnel
That's a pity as Lewis Milestone's film is an anti.-war classic.I'd imagine its "banning" had more to do with a new version being made than anything else.Certainly hope so.The original was banned in Germany at the time "All Quiet On The Western Front" (2022) is German made.
Indeed .Just shows what a quick google search can wrongly turn up (or perhaps my eyesight's not what it was)The Original was 1930 and then there was a remake in 1979…. With Donald Pleasence amongst others. Which is strange because in WW2 he was in a stalag Luft 111 and had to escape via a tunnel
Have you actually seen it already or just going on the reviews?

Just dug out my old (DVD ) copy.Looke forward to seeing it again (for what wiould be the 3rd time later tonight or tomorrow):See that Ralph Fiennes ,who plays the gangland boss who organises the hit was in in too.Forgot about him.He has a talent for black comedy which has rarely been used in the cinema.Enjoy.I am just about to look for "In Bruges" (DVD) on Ebay.
