Films you've watched recently.

Open Range, again, a very very good Western, far better than "Wolves", superb landscapes in Alberta, Canada.
The background music is the best since the score in "Last of the Mohicans" and the lead 4 thespians of Duvall, Costner, Benning and Gambon are on their top form;- especially Duvall.
10/10, even on the 5th or 6th watch.

Agreed with that..

Saw the Stones recent documentary film Crossfire Hurricaine again on French (Arte)TV last night.

They certainly used to be a decent band.I've always loved their first covers LP.

Suicide Squad. Well that's a relief, so much better than BvS, real comic book fun. Jared Leto's Joker was excellent but underused, but it wasn't the headline acts (Will Smith/Deadshot, Margo Robbie/Harley) that shone, rather Diablo & Killer Croc were my favourite characters in the movie. I do hope in the future that Harley Quinn get's to break free of the Joker, as in the comics, otherwise she's going to get boring and unsympathetic very quickly. Offers hope for the DC CU. 8/10

Purge: Anarchy. More of a satire than a horror, some nice set pieces, and good background shots, but felt a little flat in places.

A film I didn't watch - Maggie's Plan. Mumblecore, hipster rubbish, set in NY (surprise) with pampered middle-class whiners having first world problems (surprise). Turned it off and watched Stranger Things.

Zootopia - 9/10 - Just a great animated family film. Slightly more adult (PG) than others but very funny, genuinely moving and a great allegory about many current social issues

Eye in the sky - 8/10 - Perfectly watchable and sets up the debate about drones/collateral really well.

Keanu - n/a - I like Key and Peele and this started off ok but couldn't be bothered to stick it out. Not funny enough.

"David Brent: Life on the road" I'm still undecided as to whether it was brilliant or terrible. Offensive in parts so not one for the sensitive!

Agree with most of that - thoroughly enjoyed the first hour, thought it dragged a bit towards the end. I found Viola Davis to be intensely irritating.

A decade or two late to it, but finally got around to watching Schindler's List this afternoon. Oh. My. Word. Just brilliant.

Wasted two hours watching 'Creed' on Netflix last night. Total trash, don't know how on earth this got 93% on rotten tomatoes??

2/10 from me
