FC - Week 1

Brilliant batting by these two

67.1 3 Nagamootoo to Hulse
Lovely use of the feet as Hulse skips down to the track and drives that through the covers. They hurry back for a third.
And that's a century for Hulse! Well played indeed Sir!

Lead by 73 runs. (Chris Cavemen 176-10)

Wright 112 (161 balls)
Last Wicket: Hoult c. Mohammed b. Jack 6 (FOW: 25/3)

Hehe, his captain took him straight off again! Very humiliating for the lad. Anyway, nice little partnership building here and we're eating into the lead.

Trail by 79 runs. (Bishop Floggers 241-10)

EDIT:

Hmmm, failed to notice Plums had actually gone! Boo!!

Last Wicket: Johnson c. Sabata b. Featherstone 0 (FOW: 188/7)

Should make 300 now!

Only £28-000 today in the coffers so certainly not worth dragging it out to 3 days anymore!

Kev

Lamo falls after a decent knock. Time to see whether Sini and Macca are capable of doing anything now they're on sublime fitness for the first time in their careers!

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 56 (6 runs, 1b). ShrimperZone CC: 185-4, runrate=3.30

Yates is bowling brilliantly for me. Hope to get them for less than 200. May even finish today if they collapse.

Desperately slow progress but another good partnership building and we should get a few overs at them tonight. Shipp actually managed a few successive overs this time!

A double century. Very good innings this.

Trail by 322 runs. (Nipples CC 466-4 dec)

Another wicket down but a good ton partnership. Wish we could pick the pace up a bit though.

In contrast to my first innings, where I was bowled out for 144, I'm now worried about whether I set my declaration score correctly or not.

I'm 278-2. Think I said I'd declare my second innings on 350, which would give me a lead of about 310. Might have blundered there, although it is overcast tomorrow so it should hopefully be like the first innings where both teams were skittled.

I either want 10-15 overs tonight in which I pick up a wicket or two, or I need to bat for an hour tomorrow.

Very pleased with the first FC match of the season. Looking at the rankings I am the worst team in the league, but hopefully I can survive as I continue to develop my team this season.

Going to change my method on training this season, and really focus on getting the bowlers trained up. My batsmen are mainly respectable, but I have space to develop my bowlers, so I'll be training these up on stamina and bowling, hopefully ensuring that by the time my third season starts I'll have a team ranging from 17-21 with at least comp/respectable as their main skill and good stamina levels.

Anyway frst game up, and I declared overnight on 477/5. Managed to bowl them out for 292 and have enforced the follow on. Particularly pleased as they were at 192/1 at one point.

The players are off the field for the change of innings.

End of Over 85 (Maiden). The Elbows: 292-10, runrate=3.44
Trail by 185 runs. (The Flying Scotsmen 477-5 dec)
Coutts 19-3-48-3
Dowie* 3 (13 balls)

Macca didn't last long but Mario is upping the pace.

End of Over 110 (3 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 314-6, runrate=2.85
Lead by 73 runs. (Bishop Floggers 241-10)
Mellor 28-7-70-2
Marriott* 85 (200 balls)
Odonague 1 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Mcleod c. Parkes b. Mcclenahan 1 (FOW: 297/6)

EDIT:
Now Odonague goes, got the 4th batting point so will be happy with a swift finish now.

Getting better, shame Jeffers has gone cheaply

End of Over 28 (12 runs). Napster's XI: 71-2, runrate=2.54 (1st Inn: 230-10)
Lead by 52 runs. (Yorkshire puddens 249-10)
Livingstone 3-1-15-0
Armstrong* 18 (52 balls)
Perry 29 (77 balls)

Last Wicket: Jefferson c. Lizwelicha b. Payne 23 (FOW: 30/2)

Suthers lingers long enough to let Mario get his ton. Now to see if we can tickle a few out tonight to make things more relaxed tomorrow.

End of Over 123 (1 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 337-10, runrate=2.74
Lead by 96 runs. (Bishop Floggers 241-10)
Shipp 14-2-52-1
Marriott* 101 (239 balls)

122.2 W Shipp to Sutherland
Shipp puts it in a difficult area and Sutherland can only waft at it. Huge appeal from Eastwood for a catch behind, and the umpire gives it! Sutherland shakes his head, but he has to go!

Declared on 362 early this morning and dismissed them for 98, collapsing from 74-2 thanks in no part to a brilliant spell by Williams of 7-17 in 6 overs to finish with match figures of 10-35 off 16 overs.

He's proving to be the pick of my bowlers and he'll be on 2 bowling nets when Bob has finished his WK training (hopefully a week or two). Bob himself finished with 10 dismissals behind the stumps.

No wickets so they're 12-0 at close. However, weather due to turn again tomorrow showing what an important toss it was to win.

can i just check with everyone, is setting your bowlers to very attacking the best way to bowl your opponents out (guessing this will leave them more chance to get runs though)

I generally set mine to attacking but yes, the theory is that very attacking will have a higher chance of both wickets and runs. Good to use when you're well ahead but have limited time to get them out.
