FC - The second half starts HERE!!

Cold Rod's SZ career not exactly finishing in a blaze of glory but at least he's trying!

End of Over 26 (11 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 48-4, runrate=1.85 (1st Inn: 39-10)
Trail by 279 runs. (Recreativo Didsbury 366-0 dec)
Konchesky 2-1-11-0
Curtis* 28 (69 balls)
Atkinson 10 (15 balls)

Last Wicket: Babb b. Hunter 2 (FOW: 23/4)

hmm, wickets slowed up after good start, still expect to bowl them out for not much more than 200..

End of Over 18 (4 runs). Super Smashed CC: 65-2, runrate=3.61
Trail by 396 runs. (N-Trance shire 461-6 dec)
James 9-1-27-0
Hargreaves* 36 (54 balls)
Hough 27 (47 balls)

Last Wicket: Wolfenden Run Out 1 (FOW: 2/2)

Horrific collapse this morning.

End of Over 49 (1 runs). Southend: 120-7, runrate=2.45
Trail by 134 runs. (Adders CC 254-10)
Sale 6-1-7-1
Granville* 6 (9 balls)
Deakin 0 (5 balls)
Last Wicket: Hitish c. Goodhead b. Davis 0 (FOW: 119/7)

Need a tailender to do the typical 0 off 40 balls job for Granville to take us to 200.

50 for Curtis in his last appearance! It's Sehwag-esque domination of the run total!

End of Over 40 (6 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 73-7, runrate=1.83 (1st Inn: 39-10)
Trail by 254 runs. (Recreativo Didsbury 366-0 dec)
Konchesky 9-3-23-1
Manzini* 2 (4 balls)
Curtis 50 (118 balls)

Last Wicket: London c. Taylor b. Konchesky 0 (FOW: 58/7)

In case you didn't see, Sehwag scored 201 of India's 329 all out against India last week. Only two other batsmen made double figures and Sehwag had less than half of the strike!

Looking forward to their second innings comeback.

End of Over 34 (3 runs). Westons Whackers: 43-9, runrate=1.26
Trail by 306 runs. (Southend United 349-10)
Mcveigh 2-0-9-0
Lescott* 16 (63 balls)
Parry 0 (5 balls)
Last Wicket: Lakeman b. Hulse 0 (FOW: 40/9)

34.6 W Hulse to Lescott
Hulse, Wright and Sekani appeal till their faces go purple! Slowly but surely, the finger goes up.

Follow-on enforced, 305 ahead.

End of Over 54 (1 runs). Southend: 131-10, runrate=2.43
Trail by 123 runs. (Adders CC 254-10)

That plan didn't work well then. time for the bowlers to step up.

Vosloo gets out quickly again

Barrowdale 1-0-7-1
Turner* 3 (2 balls)
Dover 4 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Vosloo c. Wright b. Barrowdale 0 (FOW: 0/1)

Woo

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 5 (1 runs). Westons Whackers: 18-3, runrate=3.60 (1st Inn: 44-10)
Trail by 287 runs. (Southend United 349-10)
Barrowdale 3-0-9-3
Ray* 1 (1 balls)
Jagielka 4 (4 balls)
Last Wicket: Dover b. Barrowdale 7 (FOW: 17/3)
4.6 . Barrowdale to Jagielka
A good length on the off stump as Jagielka comes forward and drives to mid off.
4.5 1 Barrowdale to Ray
Didn't quite hit that as he'd have liked and he'll have to settle for a single.
4.4 W Barrowdale to Dover
A jaffa, an absolute jaffa. Barrowdale deserved the wicket of Dover with that ball.

Del-Boy slapping it about a bit, but could do with him getting out now. Mind you he can get away with not bowling tomorrow.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Six Stars

Six Stars won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 134 (7 runs). BATTY SHRIMPERS: 757-5, runrate=5.65

This isn't going to take long

Southam 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Warr c. Fortune b. Bunce 0 (FOW: 9/3)

SZ BT'ers, make a decision for me if you would please.

I'm after a new seamer, preferable an attacking fast bowler. Now, one has just come onto the market:

28. Kevin Foot £100,000 (itbfanclub)
Plays for: East Coast Bruddas Stamina: respectable W/Keeping: woeful
Age: 25 years old Batting: mediocre Concentration: strong
BT Rating: 52,283 Bowling: quality Consistency: exceptional
Deadline: 09/08/2008 11:53 Fielding: mediocre

He's an attacking fast bowler, which is what I want. But buying him would mean a sacrifice of Friday's game, and with FC going badly this week I could end up with 3 defeats on the spin. I'm currently bidding for this bloke, who is not what I need as such but is a temporary solution and ends Thursday evening:

10. Liam Carrington £5,676,693 (Southend)
Plays for: Surrey Sloggers Stamina: respectable W/Keeping: worthless
Age: 23 years old Batting: worthless Concentration: woeful
BT Rating: 29,679 Bowling: remarkable Consistency: superb
Deadline: 07/08/2008 19:48 Fielding: feeble

He's a defensive RFM, which isn't ideal at all, but he'd be a stop-gap. What should I do? I'm leaning towards giving up Carrington and getting Foot, even though I'm likely to lose on Friday because of it.

Thoughts?

they appear to be having a go..

End of Over 58 (1 runs). Super Smashed CC: 237-5, runrate=4.09
Trail by 224 runs. (N-Trance shire 461-6 dec)
Green 17-1-71-2
Heinrich* 61 (89 balls)
Enrico 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Milner c. Fray b. Green 51 (FOW: 237/5)

I'm not sure, would he be a 5th bowler or a more important member of your attack? I would be leaning towards Foot as his secondary is that much better and he also can hold a bat.

After getting spanked last FC game,

And that's the end of the match. Southend United won by an innings and 217 runs.

End of Over 41 (4 runs, 1lb). Westons Whackers: 88-10, runrate=2.15 (1st Inn: 44-10)
Trail by 217 runs. (Southend United 349-10)
Barrowdale 13-4-32-9
Parry* 6 (10 balls)
40.3 W Barrowdale to Wilson
Drives on the up...oh my goodness, he's hit it straight to mid off. Wilson has just thrown his wicket away and doesn't he know it!

He'd be the 5th best bowler of my attack yes. I think Foot would be a better performer, but I'd lose a game to get him. Saying that, my opponents are somebody I think we could still beat.

I prefer Foot, need to be outbid on Carrington but will get that I'm sure. How much do we expect Foot to go for? It won't be over 5.7m I'd have thought, and even that is high.

As for FC, the bowlers have replied as needed.

End of Over 42 (Maiden, 1b). Adders CC: 131-7, runrate=3.12 (1st Inn: 254-10)
Lead by 254 runs. (Southend 131-10)
Nadeemuddin 6-1-24-2
Browne* 44 (83 balls)
Darby 0 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Davis c. Futcher b. Nadeemuddin 0 (FOW: 131/7)

Think we could chase 270 if lucky.

End of Over 90 (5 runs). Napster's XI: 207-5, runrate=2.30 (1st Inn: 25-10)
Trail by 36 runs. (Fenwick CC 268-10)
Prendergast 15-6-24-1
Sutherland* 34 (119 balls)
Glasby 0 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Jefferson c. Virk b. Prendergast 102 (FOW: 206/5)

89.6 . Prendergast to Glasby
That was a bit quick. Prendergast pitches it short, Glasby watches it closely, drops his hands and bat safely out of the way, rocks his head back at the last moment and allows the ball to sail through to Simmons.
89.6 nb. Prendergast to Glasby
Nice forward defensive stroke. No run though.
89.5 . Prendergast to Glasby
Left alone. Yawn.
89.4 W Prendergast to Jefferson
Wild slash from Jefferson goes straight up, and pocketed easily by Virk at mid wicket. A soft, soft dismissal. Poor batting.
89.3 4 Prendergast to Jefferson
Full ball on leg stump, flicked away with the greatest of ease and its gone racing to the boundary.
And that's a century for Jefferson! Well played indeed Sir!

Del-Boy's definitely not getting a bowl now.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Six Stars

Six Stars won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 174 (4 runs). BATTY SHRIMPERS: 932-6, runrate=5.36
Lead by 921 runs. (Six Stars 11-10)
Heskey 30-1-168-0
Middleton* 243 (198 balls)
Fisher 34 (112 balls)

Last Wicket: Ahad c. Mpho b. Stansfield 88 (FOW: 801/6)

You've got to look at the long-term. If Foot is the better bowler for your plans than go for him. 1 loss doesn't matter against the longer-term view.

I would guess he'll go for between 5.5 and 6m, but be prepared for a bidding war, as there isn't a lot on the market, especially with any kind of stamina.

A loss could matter in terms of being in III or IV, but I take your point. Foot it is then, as I'd rather an attacking quick than another FM (the reason I sold Cronin was because I was sick of training him after messing it up, I left him off a net for ages by mistake, and because I needed more variation than 3 FM and 2 spin).
