Just had a very nice chicken in a bun and chips from 'Fish to go' in leigh. That meal never faults, it is always perfect. So whats your favourite chip shop around and whats your favourite meal in there?

Leigh Elms Chippie (think it's properly called the Ideal Fish Bar)... probably the best chippy in southend, let alone leigh

Wouldnt disagree with that. Also, went to a random one last weekend on Oban Road in Southchurch....odd place for a chippy as its very residential.....but they did a cracking cod and chips. Bizarely it also came with free prawn crackers.....

Ah if we are not just sticking to local.... The cod and chips at Grimbsy, and burger and chips in Boston were the only highlights of those trips!

Up here would have to be Zanres Fish & Chip Shop, Mintlaw, Abeedenshire.

Back home would have to be with out a doubt…Jacko’s chip Shop at the top of Daileys Road in Rochford, Interesting fact about Jacko’s is that Jack Taylor the owner is Peter Taylor’s brother

anyone tried the chippy at allhallows???

went in there years ago for the 1 and only time.

waiting in the queue i noticed cobwebs in the corner, grease on the floor and what tipped me over the edge, the fella serving had the oldest till in history you know the old wooden sort,i watched him handle food then get change from the filthest till of all time.

Is this the one in Elm Road opposite Irma's? Will swing by there tonight and get my fish and chips then.

London sucks for fish n chips. Generally its just tarted up chinese takeaways with the optional extra of nuked fish for £5.50

But there are a couple of very good (if slightly ****y) ones around my way. Clapham has one called The Fish Club which I ate at for the first time the other day. It does fried fish like Rock, Cod, Haddock etc for about £5 and these awesome chunky chips, with a load of other fresh fish (delivered from Cornwall (I recall?) daily) at the counter you can have too like sole, sprats, mackerel etc. Very nice.

The other one is Brady's in Wandsworth, 3 times voted best Fish n Chips in London. A similar deal, but more expensive and with more fried options. Only eaten there the once too, but also seemed very good.

As for Southend, I often get off at Westcliff on the way home so that I can pick up a bag of chips from that one on the corner of West Rd / London Rd or else in town from the one opposite HMV...

As it goes, for the nicest chips is definitely the chip shop on the London Road at Southend. Opposite sainsburys, all I can tell you is it is a green shop, it's not run by english people either and it never disappoints!

Sheffield is absolutely dreadful for fish and chips... there must be some sort of inverse relationship between 'distance from the sea' and 'quality of fish and chips'.
