Breaking News Facilities Update - North Bank (NWQ) X block now open

If 1000 extra tickets is say £20,000 split between the clubs and some extra food and drink spend it goes some way towards the reputed £100,000 cost but nowhere near pays for itself. Great news though and hopefully it's filled many times to come.
Can’t see that getting filled to many times in this League

It's great that it has a new bar and catering etc but who is realistically going to be able to use it.

75% of matchday gates are season card holders. Maybe a couple of hundred will choose to sit in that corner but can't see many more.

I'm assuming they will just open up the double gate at the back of the west stand and let west stand fans go down to use the bar. That would alleviate congestion away from the west stand bar and will make sure more fans are spending money. So many walk away from the bar, with their money still unspent because of how bad the traffic is in the west stand bar. I am hoping they do as I've stated.

I hope that is the case as it would certainly help congestion but that would mean extra segregation for the north east corner

It's all good stuff - I can only add my congratulations to the club for getting this completed.

It probably isn't quantifiable but with a larger crowd & hopefully a good match, this could well intice a number of people to come back to Roots Hall again (or more regularly). All adds to the the buzz when a club is "on the up" ............... [smiley face]

Unfortunately, I vowed never to sit in the North Bank again. Standing, yes. The leg room is the worst in the ground. Me being 6ft, I was squashed in and it gave be bad back ache for about 2 weeks. And I don't normally get back ache. I think that's why the away support try and stand up in there.

When I did my Roots Hall Run on the 5th October, I realised just how much of a **** hole that side of the North Bank had become.

So from what I witnessed to it now having a safety certificate, and going to be packed full of Charlton fans is incredible.

Massive well done to everyone involved in this, quite some effort from those guys and girls 👏

Hopefully for league games with smaller away crowds we can squeeze them in the very corner of the NE and open up some one of the north bank blue seats to home fans
Unless we get on a promotion charge I'm not sure there'll be demand for that much of the North bank will there?

Everyone keeps saying this but what was it actually like? Why so bad? We keep asking for images of the state of it but nothing. Hopefully you can update us :) Thanks BW2

I’ve just looked through the pictures from the day, but none of them had a proper insight into what it looked like.

Steps crumbling away, seats missing, **** everywhere, filthy too. I can easily see why it wasn’t fit for purpose in the eyes of the powers that be.

CP tweeted something similar to what I put on here, as he sat in every seat at Roots Hall the day before. He’d be a better judge than me as he sat in those seats, whereas I ran past them.
