starting to doubt tilson with his subs 2-2 in the 90th min black for gower and the young loanee from leicester for mcdonald what about leon clarke and how about giving them half an hour not two minutes

Xabia we've had a really ###te summer in the UK this year (weather wise) and its understandable that a lot of people are more depressed than usual ... some people pay a large percentage of their disposable income following Southend. They are entitled to criticise. No different from bad service in an expensive restaurant or bar Xabia. And I'm sure living in spain you can associate with that.

I understand that frustration can spill over and I understand that there is a "pays me money" issue here. However I'm wondering why those verbally abusing a player find it perfectly okay to vent spleens (in whatever fashion) but then demand heads roll when the target of their abuse retorts in a similar fashion. I dare say that the players were just as upset about losing the game as the fans (travelling or otherwise). To start turning on players, especially established ones, is not the answer, is it?

To use your example, if I had poor service in an expensive restaurant or bar then I wouldn't necessarily start ranting and raving and screaming abuse at the maître d' (although it does seem to be an English thing these days).

By the way, we've had a ****e August here on the Costa Blanca as well. Lower temperatures than normal (which actually isn't too bad when you're working) and heavy rain on more than one occasion. Last weekend I almost had to dig out my long trousers ...

I understand what you are saying.. BUT:

I was talking in terms of TMTLT being blind as to Maher and how good he has been for us.

TMTLT was making a personal attack at my physical presence through my picture.

There is a difference!!!

Let me suggest something: did Maher react to a gentle word in his shell along the lines of needing to lead his team back to winning ways? Or was he subjected to a tirade of foul and unnecessary abuse which no doubt questioned his extra-curricular bathroom activities and parentage? I suggest the latter.

It's funny how the same people who dish out obscene abuse (normally under the guise of spirited banter) cry "s'not fair!" as soon as they receive the same in return ...

I ttly agree wiv ur sig Xabia:p

I think that to be eligable to play yesterday the transfer had to be completed by noon Friday and Clarke's went through after that time. I could be wrong though and will stand to be corrected if anyone knows better.

Clarke loan goes through on monday, so can play daggers

i have to say that on exiting the sh!t excuse for a ground yesterday, some of the personal abuse being hurled at Tilson, Maher, Flahavan, Barrett and Clarke was absolutely appalling. Sure, tempers were running high and we were all frustrated by the way we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory but calling the players and manager C**ts and W***ers is a bit off. We all have bad days at work once in a while but we don't get that kind of abuse. I'm sure the players and management are just as frustrated and angry as we are.
To those who took part in that, i take it you won't be attending the Daggers game or the Gill's game next week?
Yes, we lost and yes, we will lose again at some point (hopefully not too soon) but surely we shouldn't be fighting amongst ourselves. Also, perhaps we should be realistic about what we expect from this season. From what i have seen so far, we are no better than mid-table mediocrity.

C'mon, cheer up! It's the Daggers on Tuesday!!!:D :D

Good post. I think some on here need to realise what we are capable of this season. While we would all love to go straight back up to the Championship, I'm not convinced that we have the team (or maybe the psychological strength?) to do it, given our poor start to the season and the fact that we have left ourselves with a lot of work to do to haul ourselves back into contention. There is no point in throwing our toys out of our prams, that is sadly just the way it is.

Having said that, I shall be getting behind the team again on Tuesday and on Saturday, as I always do and will not be singling out individuals on our own side for abuse. We can whinge as much as we like on here after the games but when I am in the ground, I get behind the team. Some of the abuse I hear being directed at the likes of Maher, Flavs, Tilson, Barrett and Clarke is completely wrong in my opinion as you can hardly accuse them of ever putting in less than 100%.

Well said, does anyone who posts on here get call, C***, ****** etc at their place of work, college, school, kindergarden etc? If not why subject players to similar abuse at their place of work?

LOL so everyone has moved from strikers to goalkeepers to defence and now onto the midfield for somewhere to blame for our losses this season. Our current midfield is fine!

So you over react to a bit of stick from the crowd, funny isnt that
people paying £23 or so have a right to a say. If you cannot take it then f..k
off, your overated, and seemingly undroppable

as to try and offer someone out, after the game, bring it in on

its shame the person didnt wait for you, as I would love to have seen you go down!!

if your hanging on for your testimonial shame on you, you not bringing anything to the game, and quite frankly bailey is a better player than you

so do us all a favour and go

****. Overrated. you not see the ball he laid on for Baileys goal??

that was the only goal the we really got to see! all the other goals were down the other end and near impossible to see!

Xabia we've had a really ###te summer in the UK this year (weather wise) and its understandable that a lot of people are more depressed than usual. Maybe TMWLT appeared a bit childish in his comments but when some of us only have an average paid job and our love for football takes up a sizeable chunk of our disposeable salary (our choice of course) I think we are more than entitled to vent our anger and judgement over certain players permormances (especially the untouchables). What wasnt mentioned above by the Rose Tinted Brigade was that Maher "just stood there" whilst Bas Savage ran straight past him leading to the second equalizer. Maher loses interest during a game too often. TMWLT is generally saying if he doesnt wanna give his all anymore then he should accept the consequences. No we cant hold one person responsible for todays defeat but contrary to the Rose Tinted Sunglasses brigades opinions I dont think that Maher has been our most consistantly best player in the last 10 years. Wasnt he part of the team that took us to the brink of the Conference ? Infact wasnt he the captain at the time. Wake up. We havent won a game this season with him and his square ball tactics this season. Nicky Bailey is hungry. Let Maher warm the bench. Let him prove he wants it again. No one should be expendable. Some people pay a large percentage of their disposable income following Southend. They are entitled to criticise. No different from bad service in an expensive restaurant or bar Xabia. I admire your eyesight. Being 100 yards away from the pitch and they were attacking the other end I couldn't see that.

Of course everyone has a right to a say. There's nothing wrong with venting your frustration, provided it's in a constructive manner. What happened yesterday was pathetic outburst of abuse, and whoever was responsible should take a good long look at themselves.

Most do expect an instant return to the championship - and in the back of my mind im hoping so to - but im a generally optimistic person...if we had won yesterday - one of the live tables had us only 3 or 4 points off the top i think - with so many games still to go its way too early to be predicting where we will finish.

Slating the players such as yesterday also is b*llox too - why should the players give a f*ck if they think the fans aren't behind them? Justifiying calling maher a c*nt along with the other few players mentioned by saying you contribute to their wages so its ok is total crap - from what i hear maher had a solid game yesterday and after 90 mins of slogging it out on a footie pitch you're called what he was - no wonder he had the reaction he did...
