Evening Echo today

If the Club has received a formal offer I suspect (and stand to be corrected) that it would be normal practice to put it before the Board regrdless of whether or not it is likely to be accepted?

Absolutely.

I'm sure there will be a board meeting today regardless of the offer made.

I would imagine it would discussed very briefly and rejected, regardless of whether we have the money from other sources or not. I'll be absolutely gobsmacked if Ron accepts it.

Agreed .I would imagine it will be a board meeting of 1 ..with the outcome being..

They can F R Off.

well the clock is ticking and we'll see what develops, the evening echo are very good at 'dramatising' as you put it. tomorrow it'll be someone else...

What's the Evening Echo?

Bit pedantic I know but it's amusing when people who say the Echo gets its facts wrong don't even know the name of the paper.

It hasn't been an evening paper for about four years.

I thought they had two? One which comes out in the morning called the Southend Echo and then the one in the Evening called funnily enough the 'Evening Echo'?

Nope. There's Basildon, Castle Point and Southend editions but it only comes out in the morning, not the evening. They did away with the evening edition when I was working there in late 05 or early 06.

Pseudo Echo was the working title of the Standard Recorder before it was launched.

sorry but people should remember if it wasn't for the echo we wouldn't know hardly anything about this whole thing. if it was upto ron it would still be swept under the carpet.

perhaps people should realise that.

Could someone answer these questions?

Why don't the Echo name the members of the consortium (or at least the people leading the charge)?

The consortium have said that should the matter not be completed by 9.30am on Wednesday, then their offer will be withdrawn without further notice.

Assuming they are real fans of the club and assuming the club goes into administration, can we expect them to make a revised offer to purchase the club via the administrator?

Can't be bothered to read back but it says on the echo website that they have a combined wealth in excess of £150 Million. Lets buy Torres to partner John Terry up front ;)
