A pesky 60 run partnership for the 9th is finally ended and Topley strikes again 3 balls later to bag another 5fer

Middlesex 277 ao

Cook gone. 57-3. 277 against Essex is like 450 against anyone else

EDIT: 57-4, Walker gone first ball.

Yep. 115-10, 162 behind.

F/o 13/1. Godleman already gone. Good grief.
So in 3 FC innings we haven't made it past 227. Obviously we're missing Tendo and Owais, but that could be balanced out by losing Cook (definitely) and Ravi (possibly)...

32/1...

Bopara out. He lacks bottle, sadly. Game over.

It's so frustrating. What is up with the boy? He needs to go on a Goochie boot-camp, rather like Cook did...

74/3 - 7 wickets in hand, 88 runs away just from making them bat again. Ho hum. Time for a big innings from my namesake? We can but hope.

128-7.............loks as though we'll be lucky to avoid an innings defeat. Season's started brightly :stunned:.......all that talk of bouncing straight back! At least we can't go down...................or can we?
