Essex CCC 2019

Weather report from Somerset. Sunny, but with cloud arriving. I am 15 miles east of Taunton, so will be slightly behind the approaching weather from the Atlantic . I would guess maybe play until about 3 or 4 pm today.
Forecast suggests earlier than that at about 1-2 ish. Dark clouds from 12 that could affect light too. Keep us posted mate!

Somerset won toss and opted to bat first

Interesting stat if we finish on level points, Zummerset claim the title for most wins

 No, he was shocking.

I'd go Keith Boyce based on his performances for Essex (I actually think Steyn is the best bowler who has played for Essex but he was raw when he played for us and didn't become world class until afterwards).

But that's a pretty unbalanced attack so if I need a spinner I'd go for the man who is hopefully bowling us to a second championship in three years (again I think Laker is probably the best spinner to have played for Essex, but his best performances would have been before he joined us - and on that note I'd have Flower over McEwan if we're including performances for other teams as Flower was immense for Zimbabwe).

Harmer has been the difference for Essex the last three years and stood out from his peers in a way that I'm not sure the likes of East/Acfield/Such/Childs did. The other option would be Kaneria but Harmer is an excellent team mate, a good fielder and a handy lower order bat and Danish... well let's leave it there.

Grey and overcast here, but currently not raining. Rain arrived here about 10 minutes later than Taunton earlier.

Could play in this, although light may be an issue. 80% chance of rain on he forecast for this afternoon, so I would be surprised if we get more than 10-15 overs in.

Keith Boyce was my all time Essex hero, exciting, wholehearted, mustard in the field, fantastic bowler and often destructive bat too. Difficulty to leave out of an all time Essex team IMHO.

Couldnot have him in the team, match fixer and couldn't trust him

I actually loved Danish before all that came to light. His bowling was great, his fielding was comical and I always found his chain smoking out side the pavilion hilarious too.

But yeah disgrace
