I thought we should have pulled out at 505-4 when Browne got his 250.

Forecast for Wednesday isn't great.

529-6

We do seem to score plenty of runs these days. With a score like that I think they should declare at tea, at the latest. That will give us 7 sessions to take 20 wickets...

This is key. One and a half days in, massive score posted, opposition in trouble - now time to twist the knife.

A violent analogy for a genteel game, but there you go.

Rain forecast for most of Wednesday so this is potentially only a three day game.

Not a single Derbyshire batsman averages above 40.

Is it me or is that a poor indictment of County Cricket these days.

Derbyshire currently 199-5. Given that the forecast is for rain between 12.00 and 5.00 tomorrow, this is looking like a draw. Those batting (and bowling) bonus points could prove to be crucial in the end.

Nice to see the Essex batting machine rolling on, even without Cook. Some quick wickets after lunch see Derbyshire at 214-8 but as londonblue points out, with the likelihood of poor weather tomorrow, we're gonna have to move some to get a deserved win!
