England cricket 2024

He might well be decent with the bat but can he also catch the ball just as well?!?
If catches win matches will you pick your best three slip fielders regardless of batting ability as well?

I understand he’s a decent keeper. Not as good as Foakes with the gloves but on the evidence of today he’s a vastly superior batsman. Essex could really do with dislodging Smith here.

Shame we were reduced to 10 men for most of the match due to the ECB ridiculous ruling.

that ruling has been there for certainly as long as i've followed cricket. I don't think it's ridiculous. we were unlucky in having to play with 10 in the biggest game of the season, but we also let them off the hook in their second innings. when Ryan Patel and Jordan Clarke came in they were only 200 ahead and we let them set us about 360. Smith looked a class above this game, similar to Root in that he scores runs, not just boundaries. also the amount of times he'd start after a break, or play and miss, then step out to ease it through midwicket. woof. class.

Jimmy Anderson will play his last ever match for England at Lords in July against West Indies. Will be an end of an era but they are building towards the next ashes series in 18 months and his form/age suggests there are better alternatives who deserve some game time to prepare for that series.
Jimmy rolling back the years, nothing but admiration.

I have 2 (spare) tickets for the England vs Australia T20 match on Friday 13th September @ Sophia Gardens, Cardiff if anybody's interested?!?

Creepy out of Sri Lanka series with fractured digit. Dan Lawrence to open and Jordan Cox called up as cover.
