It is a fact that we are under one hence all the bollocks that we are looking at this player looking at that one, one thing that ****es me of about our club is how they try to hide the facts under the radar. It's simple here, the accountants are apparently waiting to be paid and until they are the accounts do not go in to the relevant bodies. Some staff are unpaid and we haven't a pot to **** in.

All this ******** we hear makes me so angry and the skull-duggery that goes on honestly make me sick.I am falling out
of love with SUFC and football on the whole on a daily basis.

I think you need to get a reality check and then a life.

Nobody knows for sure what is happening at the club. If our accounts where months late as suggested then why where we allowed top sign other players pre season?

Mildenhall move fell thru because Millwall wanted too much of the wages to be paid by Southend. The amount required did not fit the clubs wage structure - that is why the move fell thru - not because of embargo !

Judging by the fact we are 8 days away from the season starting, we dont have a keeper (no offence to Bentley but it would be insane to start with him), we have one actual fit midfielder I would say something isnt right.

Now either Luggy is really fussy on his keepers or we cannot sign a keeper. I dont think a pro club should be this close to the season without a experienced keeper and it goes against a lot of what Luggy does by getting players in early in the pre-season.

All the above and the fact we KNOW the accounts are late speaks volumes in my eyes.

Whilst being under an embargo wouldnt shock me as others have said despite Crickos original post it isnt fact that we are under one by what we know.

Even if we are its obvious we are working on getting players in and we managed to get a whole squad in when we had the previous one.

We have signed a number of players already this summer and just need to finalise 2 or 3 more.

Whilst its hard to have confidence in the club at times like these its not worth getting worked up about something until it happens. Sturrock will manage the situation Im sure.

If there is an embargo the club will be doing things to work around it, pre contracts etc.

If we get to the first day of the league season (I couldnt give a monkeys about the Posh game) without signing a keeper then thats the time to get stressed.

Keep the faith...

Yes it would be great if the club was run in a more open and arguably honest way as I also feel fan’s and shareholders are not really kept informed
of important information regarding what is our club. Whilst we are never going to aware of every transfer enquiry a regular (quarterly) update regarding the state of the club/team by the chairman/manager on the official SUFC site (that’s gone backwards too IMHO) would be appreciated.
This will be the first time in over thirty years that I have not seen any pre-season friendly’s which is due to both personal circumstances and a little disenchantment with the club that I am trying hard to fight off. I am still looking forward to taking my seat at RH on 18th but just not as much as I normally do.
I can not claim to be aware of whether the club is or is not under a transfer embargo but with no confirmed first team keeper and the first competitive game just a five days aware it is very easy to see given our previous problems how you could get to that conclusion.
We are all entitled to views on both players and the state of our club and this is a great place to share them so it did disappointment but not really
surprise me to read people posting about #### off then etc as it was not an opinion they agreed with entirely.
That kind of response is about as bad as some of the comments by a certain Vic Jobson a man who was probably quite fortunate he was chairman before the internet was around.

It would be great if we had all the information, but from a business point of view when times are hard it isnt the best thing to start publicly start putting out bad news.

If we are under an embargo the club could do 2 things :

1). Work to sorting out the issue in private, work on getting the right players ready to sign for when its done.
2). Put a news story out saying they havent paid their accountants and therefore we are under an embargo.

Doing 2) would achieve nothing, it wouldnt appease anyone, there would still be massive outrage that it had happened. It would put the club in a negative light and affect chances of signing other players.

As things are there is understandable frustration, but I really dont see the benefit of making all of this public if theres a chance they could resolve the issue without it affecting the season, which we dont even know if it will yet.

With regards to finding out if we are or arent under one, is the Trust not in a position to find out ? We have a 312 page thread about whether they should sponsor the pre season tour or not, yet when theres an important issue like this we hear nothing ?

Yeah, this.

If we're under an embargo then why did we bid for Mildenhall a few days ago?

Just a guess but the league regs say that the embargo for the non filing of accounts is a registration embargo
As Mildy was a loan , I guess Milwall retain his registration.

Denying an embargo to the press means that we are either not under one or the club don't want the outside world to know they are under an embargo , Either way why would they tell the Trust anything other than what they have told the press ?

If there is one and they are denying it then that does take it to another level.

Could be because they dont see it as an issue and will be resolved without affecting anything but if they were hiding something more serious that would certainly be something worthy of grabbing the pitchforks.

Falling out of love?? - **** off then

Well said Scott, can't stand people that say this s!!t, Southend til we die through thick and thin.

I think you need to, etc...

All getting a bit personal guys. We all follow the club on here and have differing levels of affection for it. Supporting Southend United is far from easy and most people's level of affection for the club has risen and fallen over the years. We've certainly been tested these last few. I don't agree with John's view but I can definitely understand it. Relax folks.

Was not suppose to be personal mate just trying to get across to John that your love for a football club should not get blurred with the running of it

I am in the same boat hence not renewing my season ticket and me becoming a shadow in the stands

I want some Umbongo.

Me want!

I just want to make it clear that I am not having a go at the accountants as such, and we've seen plenty of evidence over the years as to how our club treats people it owes money to. I am just questioning the morality and ethics if the accountants are deliberately and consciously delaying submission of the accounts, just because you have a customer that reneges on your contract doesn't mean you should bring yourself down to their level.

So they submit the accounts and we still don't pay them? What then, we get dragged into court again?

Indeed. I dont personally see why the actions of the business side of the club affects the footballing passion, but we are all different.

Admittedly if players arent getting paid it affects performance, but if Southend supporter Joe Bloggs didnt read Shrimperzone he would have no idea of any issues. (Unless at the 1st game Sammy the Shrimp is in goal).

As SBH says theres no need for anyone to be telling anyone else to '**** off then', although I know it was said tongue in cheek.

Some of us deal with situations differently, I personally am not that fussed for now, if it gets closer with no movement on the keeper that will change. For me with the signings we have made Im still very optimistic about the football and looking forward to the 18th.

hahah this is the very reason you dont own your own company!!!

When dealing with people owing money you need to find a levey and some kind of insentive to pay up.

The accountants holding the records is spot and I fully agree and support what they have done (if true)

There is absolutely no problem with the ethics or morality of what the accountants are apparantly doing. It is no different to what a reasonable person in that profession would be expected to do.

Where an accountancy firm receives a client's books and prepares accounts from them there are two distinct ownership issues. The physical books and records always belong to the client whereas the accounts and workings prepared from them belong to the accountants. If the client does not pay, or does not want to pay, they can require the accountants to return their property, the books and records, but they have no right to the work the accountant has done. They could try and get a different accountant to produce a new set of accounts but the difficulty there is the any reputable firm would ask their predecessors for clearance and become aware that there is a risk they will not (easily) get paid for any time they invest. Some will still go ahead, others will say not worth it.
