Quote[/b] (Xàbia Shrimper @ Nov. 02 2006,09:44)]Does it really matter that much? I mean Manchester United are one of the most popular teams in the world and if one of their fans was prepared to queue throughout one of the coldest nights of the year then he (or she) surely deserves that ticket, whether or not it be in the home area. Embarking on an all-out search to root out these fans just smacks of a desperate attempt to avoid the simple fact that Southend United are a far, far smaller club that Manchester United. Do we really want to have our very own "Kristallnacht" next Tuesday evening?
Yes!
Already hired my Gestapo uniform - SS now stands for "South Stand" - embroidered the SUFC badge on both sleeves to be easily recognisable as a real supporter, practiced my marching.
Just in the process of constructing a portable detention area with self contained cyanide canisters!
Slogan - " Root them out of Roots hall"

Yes...you'll have to murder about 250 Man Utd fans for it to be anywhere near the extent of Night of the Long Knives!  Got my rifle ready, ha!  Who plays the role of the "Ernst Roehm" of the Man Utd. support, I wonder!
Thats 2 snipers ready, we could probably do with another 10 for the home stands, and a couple of dozen to take pot shots at the away end just to keep them under control!
Any volunteers to be part of a roaming band beating up suspected infiltrators on an indescriminate basis?

i think some brave sole should infiltrate the masses in the north bank... intellegence is vital and coded messages could perhaps be relayed using the scoreboard

All this pointing out people is ridiculous, just go and enjoy the match. As mentioned there will be a lot of Mums and Dads there with their kids. We had this nonsense and panic before we played at Swansea last year, it was actually a fantastic football day out. So add up the numbers, 1800 Man U allocation plus possible 500/1000 plus because of Hull stubs (club decision), then what about about sponsors and corporates...I suspect a lot of their customers will also be Man U...even complimentary tickets ! So you could be looking at maybe 3,000 ish. You will only make it more uncomfortable for everyone and the club, let the stewards concentrate on real safety issues. Are Southend going to throw out all the corporate and sponsor guests that have been invited, I don't think so. Southend are playing a massive club with massive support, if your lucky to have a ticket..watch and enjoy the game.

They would have to wear a different shirt (Chelsea, West Ham) so as not to get shot at by the snipers!!

See my previous response to Xabia Shrimper - I couldn't care less about "mums and dads with their kids". I care very much about avoiding a repeat of what happened at Orient on a much greater scale and broadcast live on national television.

But the language you phrased your previous posts in ie scummers, glory hunters, suggest your on some kind of mission to eject any Man U fan who dares to make a sound.
Forget about it, go to the game and enjoy it for what it is. If someone causes trouble let the stewards deal with it!

The answer is to drown them out so they can't be heard, and this should be easier this year due to the number of season card holders we have. The vast majority of the East and South Upper and at least 50% of the West should be Southend season ticket holders, so we only have ourselves to blame if Man U fans are heard in the home end.

Its only a football game, a once in a lifetime game. We all know Man U will run out comfortable winners, lets just enjoy the occasion. There are tons of man u fans in Southend, as long as they dont cause trouble let them celebrate all they want.

The terms I spoke in initially merely represent personal views on a specific portion of their support - as this thread has morphed into a debate over right and wrong I've tried to refrain from using them.

Ground rules exist for a reason, and I find it unbelievable that anyone who is aware of what has happened in the past at Orient or of the many incidents involving their fans would defend their "right" to potentially incite trouble. It's been proven that some of our fans are stupid enough to fight amongst themselves so I'm not entirely confident in their abilities to restrain themselves in the face of undisguised provocation. If ground rules can be enforced to remove anybody who is deliberately attempting to antagonise the home fans then I sincerely hope that they will be.

As do I, but then thats the same for every game

True fans like me missed out

SO Im going with my Florescent Jacket on then, going to hang outside the West Stand any fans with Man U colours entering the west stand ( HOME END) Will have their Ticket confiscated by me, Hey

BINGO

I HAVE A TICKET :-)

One Team In Essex
SUFC

I reckon well over 1000 Man U fans will have Tickets for the home ends... I hear Touts have had a field day yesterday...

I agree with those who say we shouldn't notify the stewards of Manure fans in the home end...

I think we should beat the s**t out of them first, and then notify the stewards.

Seriously though, I wont be looking out for Manure fans, but then I won't really be bothered if any of them get a whack. If you go in the home end at an away match, while not exactly asking for it, you can't really be too surprised if something unsavoury happens to you.

That would be hilarious.

Stand outside and wait until someone wearing a Man U scarf looks a bit lost.....

Quote[/b] (Einstein @ Nov. 02 2006,13:02)]Sorry Mike, in my opinion you are intent on looking to stir things up here on comments which nobody actually made.
That was not my intention. What I am trying to work out is why we shouldn't accept other fans into the home areas of our stadium when our own fans have done the same thing at many other ground around the country over the past few years. It just smacks of double-standards and that's what annoys me. If there are hundred or a thousand Man Ure fans in the home areas, does it matter? What gives someone the right to tell these people how they should act? What gives someone the right to encourage witch-hunts to dig out these people? If they put as much effort into supporting Southend United as they did writing bleating letters to the club heirarchy then maybe our club will have a chance next Tuesday. However, from where I'm sitting, it all looks rather pathetic ...

Quote[/b] (Einstein @ Nov. 02 2006,13:02)]If I had stood up and cheered when SUFC scored then IN MY OPINION I would have been quite rightly attacked and beaten.  I've never been involved in trouble at a football match before, but if a Man Utd fan disrespected SUFC by singing/chanting etc then whatever comes their way is deserved.
Football (I hope) has moved on since those dark days when it almost self-destructed. I would like to think that the greater proportion of football fans would tolerate everyone, no matter what their allegience. I'm not calling for a "football love-in" but surely the game and its fans have matured since the 70s and 80s? Respect - you have to earn it; it's not given away with a match ticket stub. Tolerance is a great measure of respect. Condoning "whatever comes their way" does not.

Sorry ...

Once again: spot on! Hand this man a large box of Montecristo Platinums ...
