Demise of the NoTW

Just to put a different spin on this, and in no way is this in defence of NI as they no doubt deserve all they get. I'm taken by the hypocrisy of in particular the Grauniad, a month or two ago they were trumpeting Wikileaks and Assange, how did Assange & co come by their information?

Fair point, but whilst the methods are similar the objectives definitely aren't. I've always been uncomfortable with Wikileaks, but their objective is clearly to uncover crime and corruption on a huge scale, rather than to make £££'s by uncovering personal sleeze, and go far beyond hacking by actually deleting criminal evidence

Did wikileaks not release names and details of people working undercover abroad and army and defence plans as well as as details that could have put peoples lives in danger? I kind of missed a lot of it as I was in Oz and they didn't report much on it unless it affected them.

It's fine for Wikileaks to do whatever the hell they want because they're anti-American, anti-Capitalist and generally all round good eggs. Their founder is also entitled to rape women. (Allegedly).

The antics of Assange and co are only in 'the public interest' if you limit the public to commies, traitors and other assclowns.

A fair bit of the drivel that came from wikiliaks was "celebrity" bollocks not too far unrelated to what the NOTW were doing.

That's pretty much my point.

I cannot believe the mobile phone companies could not tell that a missing persons phone had been hacked rather than accessed from the actual handset of the person in question.

This story is brilliant the way it keeps unravelling. Brooks goes now.

It's been appallingly handled by News International.

Lol @ Charlie brooker

@charltonbrooker: Captain always goes down with ship? Brooks torpedoed ship, saw 500 go under, then paddled away for a week before getting sucked into vortex.

They prob could today.

I don't believe they couldn't then.

If your entire business model involves charging people each time they use your service then the first thing you put in place is a logging/audit system.

I don't necessarily mean for the Tory party, but more for him personally. Front page of the Torygraph in the morning is 'Stephenson quits with parting shot at Cameron'.

...and of course "New" or whatever brand Labour are under haven't, despite Miliband's best efforts to distance himself from NI, he was still cosying up to them a few weeks ago at a party.

This'll run for a while yet, what I do find distasteful is those that NI have hoist by their petard, the witless buffoon Prescott & Chris Bryant among others are now so much holier than thou. Hypocrites!!
